Ysabel chapter 37 . 5/14 Peace. Really good fic and those last chapters really were sad. He had a nice childhood with the spinners, though, at least. |
Ysabel chapter 22 . 5/12 I liked the chapter and the whole fic. The chapters with Milah seem tedious because their relationship seems dull. I assume that's what you were going for, so nice work. Also I liked what you did with their training camp, and how it was based somewhat on Mulan's training in the movie. |
Ysabel chapter 14 . 5/11 I think it's nice the way you keep track of ages and other things. For me, with the show it kind of became a suspension of disbelief because there are certain aspects that can't be ignored, and the writers didn't seem to really bother with. Like Henry's age and him supposedly being 14 at the time of season seven but he looks older. A yway. I love your writing and the dedication you've put. I think you're very talented. |
Ysabel chapter 2 . 5/10 Yep, I recognized the scene. And I like how you did simplify it. Great chapter |
Ysabel chapter 1 . 5/10 Awesome chapter! Rumpel is one of my favorite characters and you've really written him well, at least from this chapter. Thanks for writing this. Also, I had read some of your Moments series but stopped because I was behind in the series. Anyway, ai'm happy that you wrote this. And hope you're doing well with the pandemic. Well wishes! |
Alarda chapter 17 . 2/10 My gosh, a friendly face, someone who'd have mercy - what a reason to get married! Honestly! It'd good that he has hope here. I don't think he really loves her - not like he should, at least. Care for her and like her - I'm with you there. But not like with Bell - or even with Cora for that matter. And that rushed way Milah talks about starting a family - it all feels wrong! It's well wrtten, it fits in the story and it was fun to read, but you can tell that this is not going to work. Yes, sure we know that, but you can tell by the way things are going here. Bam. They are married. Bam - she kisses him. Bm that conversation. Bam - let's just do it right now! That's like - just get it overwith and be done with it. You sure that she really was inexpierenced. After her father and Mr OAk I had my suspicions here... And grow into love - I don't know. !SPOILER ALTERT! I mean, if you still carry on an affair the whole time, that says quiet a lot. An reading this for a second time after reading TDOC completly, as it is published so far, I have to really doubt that. Epecially on her part. And then if that specially something isn't there, it's very unlikely to to show up later. *sighs* |
Alarda chapter 16 . 2/10 Oh. My. God... I don't think this is going to go down well. I have absolutly no cule why her father is reacting this way, but I do get the feeling ther might be some reason to it - otehr that the man is drunk and he supposedly dislikes his daughter because her mother died... Not worth the brideprice... hm ... doesn't sound good at all. Plus, the way it all happens - it is ovious that Rumple is just beeing used here. She did inend to married to someone else here. Rumple is simply convinient... That's so rushed and so... I don't know whow to say it! At any rate not at all it should be like! 'Poor unfortunate soul.' My gosh, Im afraid so too! Rumple, what did you do?! Alas, too late anyway... |
Alarda chapter 15 . 2/10 It's always interesting to get insides into your planning. You did quiet the thorough job on everything so far. Wow! I find the question of age interesting, and I see how it will help to keep track of it in a project this large. But to be honest, it would have been okay, I think, if you pretended that Rumple doesn't Age along with Robert Carlyle. I always like to think we could assume with the curse and all, we could safely assume he still looks like in season one, and no one could really have blamed you. And in the beginning I thought 'What 50?!' but you do have a point- Looking at him closely in Season 1 (ah, always nice to have an excuse to go back to the DVD'S!) you do have a point. He could probably pass for younger, but if you look closely, there are enough sceance that reveal he is a man of ...em... mature years. :D But how old do you think Rumple is at the end of the series. All we have to go on is Pan's remark about ' a couple of hundred' and RC said something about 300 at some point... So, with what final age are you going for him? Mila again... I wonder what she is doing here, really. I simply can't think she really fancies Rumple – not like she should. Yes, I'm writing this during my second read through, But given what happens in the series I never ever believed that she really ever truly loved Rumple. I can understand him – it's hard to actually measure something like love for someone, especially since he has no yard stick for comparison. For me, mine has always been my own parents, who have been together for 40 years and gone through thick and thin together. But he has no such example around him... Och, at this stage I really have to say, it feels he has a real unhealthy crush here! I did not understand the hint from Mr Oak here at first. Yes, I get it, she's flirting shamelessly with Rumple while she is sorta together with Rolf. But does Mr Oak mean she has been doing more than flirting and so forth – at least with Rolf? And he already starts to have his little secrets here. Well, in case of the parents, I think it is excusable. I mean, look how he's been treated all his life because people knew his father. … But that thing at the end... Well, would there have been a nice way to tell her that he wants to be alone with his toughs, that would not have ruined all the chances he can rightly think he has with her? I don't think so. Yes, it'll start a habit, and I think that is probably the point here, isn't it. That he's starting to developing this habit now. And I don't like it that there are uncomfortable silences here. It isn't right when this happens. That usually doesn't go well if it leads to a relationship anyhow... I just wish our blue eyed Future-Dark-One could see it... I don't like that she is – again – goading him on by bringing up Rolf and makes those to especially compete for her. I certainly don't think she likes him at all! She uses him! Thats all there is to it. That's not about genuinely liking ore just caring for him as a person! Rumple, beware! |
Alarda chapter 13 . 2/10 So he's back where he started. It wasn't really his fault that the parents got angry. Would have happened whoever broke into the ice. And let's face it: Even if he hadn't had the idea, someone else might have come up with it anyway. It's so sad to see him always pushed to the very edge on his own. Poor thing! Mr OAK Seems nice enough so far. And I can absolutely see that Rumple would need some male Rolemoddel. Hard for a boy to grow up without one, so it makes sense that he'll look for a surrogate somewhere. I also pity him for having to deal with realizing what kind of person his mother must be. Hat must be a blow ta any person unlucky enough to be in the same shoes as Rumple here... Interesting how you set up Mila here. I get your point here, about her being dramatic. But to be honest, I never liked her very much in the series anyway. Wish he'd steer clear of her – sighs. Alas, this is not AU, so we'll have to cross the Valley of Shadow with him, in time... |
Alarda chapter 14 . 2/10 14: Oh. He's all alone now. That has to be hard, loosing the people that made up all you had for a family just like that... Shame on the Villagers though. Disturbing the grave of someone suspected of using witchcraft – reminds me of what they did with the inquisition! Horrible! So he's wise to bury them in secret. It's got to be hard on him do have to deal with everything on his own now. He just can't hide in the little world inside his home now... Lucky he has Mr Oak to look out for him a little and give him the push into the right direction, as they say... Kind of him to give him the property like that. It also is kinda like a push he gives him to start a life of his own, isn't it? And there's Mila again. What's she doing, playing these to out against one another? Gosh, I hate girls like that! And Rumple, like the naive young guy he is, allows himself to believe she is Miss right just because she is willing to speak to him, and to be peaked by jealousy for Rolf. That has all the markings of a disaster before it actually begins! But I like Rumple being the smart mouthed one here with Rolf! Way to go Rumple! |
Alarda chapter 12 . 2/10 I actually never really didn't like Blue in the series. To pompous. Look what she did to Grumpy s girlfriend! A bit too choosy about whom to help, and secretly dishonest in other places, where it suits her. That is a bid too much hiopocracy for my taste. In the original fairy tale she is rather sticky, to be sure, but never a hypocrite! In the series she is always choosing the easiest way. If she was a politician I'd say she's doing everything to hang on to her place of power really! And that is a type of a person I don't like one bit! I think this scenario of having red tell Rumple is a very likely one. Given what Blue is like. I really like that she comes out and tells him the truth. That's what I call backbone! Cheers, Tiger Lilly! This really is the only faerie that actually ever tried to help Rumple! Bless her for that! |
Alarda chapter 11 . 2/10 I really liked this chapter and who you descried their daylie live together – Rumples and his aunts, I mean. Ah, well, I can easily see how everything he has experienced would make the other kids mob him. It usually happens when your different – plus, Rumple probably does not have much self esteem. Poor little fellow. Alas, stuff like that never goes away on its own – sadly... Even as child he is a loner. … And the fierce wish for friends- well that's natural at that age. It's a real need, like his need for home and family before. Nothing really ever goes his way does it? It's not okay, that the parents turn the other kids against him because of his father. Typical – really! Children are their own beings after all! Ans not small replicas of their parents, and should be treated as such! And then there is him being small and different and timid as well. -no good combination at all. No a days you'd say that makes him a real victim-personality... Montreat, you really continue in the shows footprints. For all he had to endure a lot of people rooted for him - because he seems the born looser,no matter how hard he tries. And didn't we all love the guy for that. He is an awesome character as a whole, but with that whole backstory, he became the char a lot of people could relate to. And your keeping to that here as well, I think. And having to vainly hope for everything in life – my heart really goes out to him here! I'll keep my fingers crossed that he has now a foot in the door with those boys! And by the way – that German spelling actually escaped my notice all that time in Moments! And that even though it happens to me my mothers tongue! But to be honest, no matter how the spelling in the First syllable, the second is what makes the English version of this name really awkward for me. Yeah, I do realize that the sch and the ch are pronounced quiet differently in English and I guess the way it is been pronounced is probably the closes you can get to the German name in English- but that has always felt way more awkward about the name, than the fackt that the e and l switch positions in addition to it. But, never the less, I find it a great idea to root for the German spelling. Great idea to explain it by the way! :D |
Alarda chapter 10 . 2/10 Poor thing. Imagine being abandoned like that! Yeah, it looks like he has no other possible place to go to, than the spinsters. And I must say, it does feel here like they certainly are not surprised. But well, that might be because, it was clear from Rumples reaction that he was not going to head their advice... And I can't imagine them plotting to get his father out of the picture like that either -but you raise an interesting question... I suppose we'll never know for sure... At the very least he'll have a family now, poor child... |
Alarda chapter 9 . 2/10 Well, knowing this was coming didn't make it better...I really hate Malcom. Such a mean dolt! Poor Rumple. And the chapter really feels as if Rumple is swept along a series of bad things that simply role over him... So I'd say you did a good job there! Poor little guy – all the wanted was his fathers love and company... To just give your child up like that – that is as low as it gets! |
Alarda chapter 8 . 2/10 Malcom being as irresponsible as ever here. He really does not have the first clue about what to do with Rumples wishes and needs He just placates him and goes off after what he wants himself. No consideration for the child at all! It's also sad to see who fast Rumples little bit of fun has descended into something very like what it was back 'home' as well. |
