One thing I'm confused about is the part where nobody remembers? Is that a 90s-anime-only thing? I didn't watch most of Stars - I mean I deffo watched the Nehelenia mini-arc though - because Mamoru wasn't in most of it, and didn't watch the conclusion because of what I heard about HaruMichi vs Saturn & Pluto and I didn't wanna see that, and I liked the manga version fine? So if people not remembering in that is a Thing, whoof oops I'm sorry, and lol. But either way, Mako steadfastly remembering when almost no one else does makes this so much more tragic. T_T

The thing about her earrings is SO SAD. And at the same time bizarrely full of dramatic irony, since you know about Naoko's original plan for Mako, right? She was originally gonna be Chino Mamoru! And they are absolutely definitely both inherently protectors. And they're both orphans, and they both have the connection to green growing things/earth/plants *and Roses*...

Whoof, this makes me want to explore a tiny little OT3 family in an AU now, and I never considered it before because I usually see Mamoru as like... Usagisexual except in a universe with surviving Shitennou, in which case he's on the male-attracted side of demisexual but with definite Usagi always? But even when Mako-in-my-headcanon is the token straight girl, there's *always* the Usagi exception, I've just never seriously explored it. (And I will die on the hill of Bi/Poly Usagi 5eva)
