ChaoticInscriber chapter 1 . 3/27 Having read this before and thinking about it and now coming back Because I Wanted To, it occurs to me that they could easily have /actually/ wound up taking over the world, the world just didn't realize it and they didn't push things enough to start tipping anyone off. The way they are working on their organization and everything is very strong in both secrecy and misdirection, there is definitely a lot going on that all outsiders don't realize has any connection to them. So who's to say that by the time we hit the future, that they haven't already achieved so much knowledge, ability, and footholds to be able to quite honestly "rule the world" and are just letting most governing happen as it already will instead of announcing it or managing every last thing? Just because the puppets don't know they are puppets, don't know who is pulling the strings, doesn't mean there isn't only "one" ultimate Puppet Master. They don't need to be crowned in ostentatious Coronation Ceremonies, not when their Information Dealing work has certainly reinforced what they know about the hazards of being the openly known figurehead. Much more effective to let the already present systems and governing people deal with the minutiae and public-facing risks, and simply nudge things as they wish behind the backstage. I can also see them effectively taking over the world and most of them not quite realizing it, at least at first. XD Just because they freely joke about it doesn't mean any of them actually expected to do it, just to secure Their Own so well they will never need to want for anything, especially safety. After all, the Arcobaleno sometimes end up quite deeply tied to each other, and just because Harry-Viper wasn't manipulating them on purpose to be able to count them as assets, doesn't mean they don't learn to do just that very very well and end up also deepening the bonds that make the other Arcobaleno /want/ to help at least some of the time. The Arcobaleno scattering to end up tied to an assortment of very different groups is something all of the Underworld sighs in relief for, for a reason. All of them united under one banner is /terrifying/ to anyone who actually is aware of their personal abilities, all of them have some variety of their own networks which makes it worse, and while they might not be fully aware of Viper's Own, they are still growing bonds to Viper themself, which ties them too. Endless chains of Spider Webs of connections, bonds, and Power. Encircling the globe several times over, being able to close the nets? More plausible and doable than one might think, with the right core and enough patience... |
