So sweet and moving, I love this.

Remember, lots of spoilers! I'm just happy that we get Deckerstar... I mean, we saved the so there's no way they wouldn't give us something big by the final episode, right? Also, both Ellis and German BOTH said that their characters are "madly" in love it's each other without knowing, so I'm a happy little bee either way!

This was something else; it was an emotionally-charged and heart-wrenching piece where you took me on Deckerstar's painful journey towards healing. You made me feel everything. I felt Chloe's pain, which you so evocatively captured through your descriptions in how she noticed that Lucifer's light had dimmed, and her role in it, which in turn made me feel Lucifer's pain, hopelessness, and worthlessness through Chloe's perspective. It was quite magnificent how you made the reader feel emotions for two characters through the perspective of one. That part where she saw the pain behind the smile, the dimness buried beneath his exuberant facade, the friendly brush offs of her apologies that hid his true belief that he wasn't deserving of her, that he couldn't possibly deserve her after she found out who he truly is (my heart!)... the diction, the italics, the syntax all powerfully lent itself to maximum heart ache and empathy (the metaphor was terrific, no surprise there). I felt how broken and lost Lucifer was, and I felt how worried and desperate Chloe was to help him. Then, you gave us that beautifully written reconciliation, complete with gorgeous musical metaphors, necklace symbolism, and the imagery of baring oneself. It blew me away. The strong and sure way Chloe called for Lucifer (and as always, wherever she is, he follows) was juxtaposed with his tentative and confused call of her title... reminding both himself and her that their relationship is mostly professional. He then warns her with her name, signifying something more fragile yet intimate, the first glimpse behind the facade he is keeping intact for the birth of them, and she doesn't disappoint. Like you said in your commentary, she exposes her soul to him both physically and emotionally, showing him all of her not only because he showed her all of him, but who they can be together. Her gesture is one of bravery, asking him to accept her as who she is, and showing that she accepts him, complete with that ever so meaningful bullet necklace... and she only succumbs to her emotions after she shows and tells him what he needs to hear. So then, it's his turn to be brave, to reciprocate and show her how he feels (you wrote that swap so well, complete with that turnabout is fair play comment!).

That moment when Lucifer noticed the necklace, and recognized everything that it meant, was so pure that I could feel him start to heal in that moment. His reaction perfectly captured everything the necklace means to Deckerstar, and you depicted that marvelously (he just stares at it, at her, gazing into her soul and instead of at her flesh). Instead of words (because it's about actions in this moment), he just touches foreheads with her, which told her everything by poetically mirroring that same action from S2 when Lucifer realized that what he had with Chloe was all real, that what they felt for each other was pure and real and bright. They were in tears, I was in tears, everyone was in tears! That moment was flawless! You made it even more beautiful by having Chloe notice a gleam light in his eyes as they stood in their intimate yet innocent embrace, that light returning within him, because he believes her, because she helped rekindle the light from within, with their love. You crushed my heart all over again (in a good way) when he so timidly and innocently asked her to hold him, showing that he wanted to be with her physically and emotionally in a comforting, innocently intimate, and purely loving way... asking her to touch him in a way that no one has ever touched him before, mirroring just how her love for him has touched him like nothing before, that his love for her is something he has never experienced. Within her arms, both of them stripped bare, she sees his light return, and it's the perfect way to end this emotionally fraught journey. In the end, their embrace, like the necklace, symbolizes love in the purest form, one that transcends physical pleasures, and is about bringing out the inner light with each other. Woman, it was incredible! I was emotionally wrecked. Bloody well done.

Full disclosure: I was fully expecting something emotionally heavy from you after you saw Endgame, and girl, did you deliver! If you couldn't already tell, I loved it, and I greatly enjoyed your personal take on his lightbringer powers. It's both logical and highly plausible, and it mirrors what they do on the show in terms of how when he's happy, he shines, and when he's in a dark place, the shadows almost seem to consume him. So, yes, rest assured that it did translate well into this story. I generally really love all your light metaphors, imagery, connections, etc., so it was thrilling to see another slightly different take on the same (and will never grow tired!) concept. Unfortunately for me, when you pair perfectionism and analytical tendencies with creativity, you end up with too much anxiety and procrastination, hahaha. I deeply appreciate the vote of confidence and loyalty, so I will keep that in mind if I do return to it, but I thoroughly enjoy being here with you and watching you share these amazing pieces that I could only ever dream of creating myself. I'm sorry that Endgame devastated you (same boat, my friend) yet pleased my heads up helped, and more importantly, that I helped motivate you to write this lovely redemption piece. It seems strange to mention your delightful comedy skills right now, but I assure you, they're there. Perhaps you just need the right inspiration to tickle your humerus (I made a bone joke, yay!). To end on an exciting note, did you see the article where Lauren German pretty much says Deckerstar is moving in ahead in S4?!
