I Loved this AU. It was exciting and I couldn't stop reading it. I have always loved your LOTR stories so it was a pleasant surprise to find that you also wrote my latest favorite fandom Mag7. Just a terrific AU. The mag7 boys fit so well into this reality. Really enjoyed it!

i just finished this and i must say. That was incredible. i was surprised around every corner. kept on the edge during every instance. with each situation my theory was thrown out. marvelous. this is one of the greatest stories i have ever read. but just calling it a story does not do it justice. i simply cannot express how good this was.
Gareth-D chapter 1 . 9/16/2003
I've just finished reading the first part of Front Lines, and it's got me hooked.

If you don't object to my being frank, and in no way is this intended to be anything but helpful, there's a lot of grammatical errors and a fair few spelling mistakes in the story (ie, Diplomatic Corps not core) but that's hardly a huge problem, except in that it impacts a little on the readability. Also - and sorry to list negative things here - I did notice that 'The Four Corners' is referred to as such before the explanation of the name is given to the reader (and, indeed, before the crew would have a chance to make hang a nickname on the place - at this point they've only been aboard a short time).

Your characters are well formed, though, and the potential for interesting interaction between the senior officers is great, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the story. Using the Magnificent Seven as a source of inspiration is a time honoured technique, too: that film itself was an adaptation of Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai, as I don't doubt you know.

It's nice to see well rounded, finished works - I've got no problem with someone posting a work in progress, but when you get involved with something and there's no closure, that can be a bit irritating. I wish I had the time to be as prolific as you manage.

One other thing: could you clarify the order in which your ST stories are intended to be read: Illusion of Self next, or The White? I know the publication dates indicate that IOS is first and TW is second but I wanted to be sure if possible and avoid any spoilers.

I'm really enjoying this. Hope to see some more in the future.
Sauron764 chapter 1 . 5/1/2003
I read the whole thing in one sitting, and I don't regret a second of it. Your talent is truly great.

There were a few minor imperfections, the most notable of which was when you called the botom part of the Galaxy-class ship the "starboard" section. It is actually "stardrive." Starboard is the naval term for right, as opposed to port, which is left.

Keep writing, and I hope you update consistently, unlike the majority of authors in this section.
