That is something I can well imagine happening to Garak. You cannot live in a place for years and not be influenced by it, and by people with whom you have associated. What I also appreciated was that you mentioned details of how Garak's perceptions have been changed as well - climate, quality of light, time ... making him look for links to the past. It's a nice piece - hopefully you will be writing more stories and vignettes.
