Damn! That was pretty harsh of Claire to "axe" Dante there.

Its not like he had intentions of ill will towards her, he was till now been saving her life. And here, her concern is that he did not tell the truth which itself is kinda hard to be open and be honest about considering Dante's occupation and her bro being a cop.

Normal people would freak out if they ever saw his supernatural abilities.

Would she have continued the relationship after knowing of his mercenary job if he did risk and come clean with it, knowing fully well of her bro being a man of the law and all?

Now, when Dante does get his memo back on who he is. I think he'll prefer her hating him, even if he will find it depressing to accept. He has yet to be awakened and see his own real evolving form. Humans "shit bricks" if they ever saw his DMC5 form.

Yeah! A time-skip sequel would certainly work.

Thank God you're back. I really love this story, I'm glad I didn't lose hope after 4 months. I hope the romance turns out OK. I'm a huge fan of happy endings. Glad you're back. Keep up the good work.

You know, this whole time Dante has been taking all of the brunt of the beatings so Claire doesn't have a single scratch on her. For once I would like to see how Dante reacts to seeing Claire get slammed or flung across the room and have the shit kicked out of her by a B.O.W. It kinda would be cute to see Dante go berserk at seeing Claire get ragdolled by a Tyrant or something.

I think you did a really good job with this chapter, especially in terms of the emotional aspects when Claire realizes that the man she loved isn't who or what she thinks he is, and you really get to see the hurt. Very nicely done. I can't help wonder if the two will ever reconcile.

Claire's reaction is understandable considering she does have black and white view being young and naive. But some times telling the so called truth isn't easy as it sounds, especially when you don't know how the other reacts and judges.

Its also not easy to come clean about Bobby's cellar merc job involvement as Dante must've very naturally feared her rejection as she comes from a family with law enforcement and military leanings. So in truth, Dante never really had a choice than to risk it all. Dante was in a difficult position and Claire was a bit too naive.

But actions speak louder than words and he has always been there for her. His feelings were true too. He did not appear to be faking that. I think Claire is judging him a bit harshly. Its not like he wanted to lie.

From Dante's point of view, telling the truth is not easy, as he did not want to ruin his relation with her. NORMAL people would have called him a freak or get really scared seeing his powers like fast healing, abnormal strength and being impervious to fire etc.

Nice chance to see a RE sequel, maybe in RE Degeneration, RE revelation etc. After a long time-skip reunion would be better. Dante can be her secret dark angel or fallen, whichever fits lol.

I hope that Dante can patch things up with Claire enough for him to at least stay friends with her or potentially get back in a relationship by the time of code veronica. Also wondering if Dante will regain all his memories by the end of this story or if he might gain devil trigger earlier than Temen-Ni-Gru.

Anyway, nice chapter with good character development(?) moments for Dante and Claire.

Well crafted chapter! Realistic reaction from Claire!...

You really don't need to say trickster and gunslinger. That is just a game mechanic classifying his powers and power style change. You can even see Dante teleport in anime.

Yeah..I kind did predict Claire will not get back with Dante after this. But she still does not know what he is, and humans are basically hardwired to fear demons. Funny thing is, Claire is still single throughout the whole RE series...LOL

Too bad Dante has to accept that no human will ever accept him unless seeing use in his powers which benefits them as well. And it also seems no human can get past his TRUE FORM. Kinda depressing as he literally has to do thankless job more often. In DMC Anime he looks like he is constantly depressed and a cynic all the time, and wears a "mask". Only Patty seemed to actually look out for him. Lady seems more like a cutthroat there...no wonder Dante looks depressed!

I see Claire still has black and white view on the world so far and she is naive like that. There isn't much good job opportunities for Dante other than being a hired gun, assassin, mercenary etc. He gotta satiate his demonic side which Claire won't understand. Its not like he had formal schooling to get an high paying honest job and such. I'd figure Vergil self learned too since he sees Knowledge as power. So telling her truth for the most part is not that easy as it sounds...especially on the first matter like his supernatural powers. So Dante withholding is PERFECTLY understandable. Too bad Claire is currently naive and has black and white idealistic or righteous view.

So even when Dante learns his own full truth of what he is. I think with recent revelation with Claire. He'd fear her total disgust when he finds out what he truly is. Unless Claire has forgotten the many times he saved her. He would stay away from or be her hidden guardian angel or something.

Hell, you could even make a reunion sequel even...

Then again, he'd outlive her when he evolves and reaches his peak power levels. Naturally and slowly demon blood of his is more dominant. I think he'd stop to age at some point (despite what Capcom says...they are full of plot-holes and inconsistencies ) seeing his power levels at DMC5, he practically looks like a demon lord class and stop to age at some point. His own mothers attire and their home decor shows the hint that Dante was pretty much pseudo demon royalty.

I think Dante being half devil, he could be more susceptible to dark, negative and violent thought process than normal humans do. Claire's rejection was predictable, a harsh revelation to Dante's ray of light. His chance at any love life for that matter was very short lived.

See ya next chap! The cliffhanger was great with Vergil teleporting away in such foreboding and demonic way. Guess he is too excited for reunion with his only family member...lol.

Hell yeah! I've been waiting for this and oh boy this did not disappoint one bit. This is awesome as always! And really sorry to hear that you lost your job man. Covid has also been rough here in indonesia, friends of my family have been dying left and right. And despite the massive amounts of victims, people still gather around and party. It's mind boggling. Hope your safe, and keep up the great work!

I mean, she just needs to think about this crap, plus I have the feeling that Dante is gonna get his memories back, with him either trying to get away from Claire to keep her safe or him telling the truth to her, trying to keep her away, only to get a shotgun blast to the chest, which is like a smack to the face in half demon terms in DMC. Plus it would get a chuckle out of him.

Man, so tense! A lot of valid but hurtful comments made between the two of them... so far, it seems like they could partially mend things but obviously not make things as they once were - that ship sailed long ago. Wonder how things will progress from here.

I somehow get the feeling that decision of hers won't really stick by the end of the fic, and they may decide to just start over with the relationship. This time with Dante having to swear up and down that there'll be no more lies.

If not though, well then this entire pairing was made sort of pointless, as Dante yet again ends up like he did in canon DMC. It gives him some development, sure, but he'll pretty much end up the same if he regains his memories. Which I'm assuming he will if Gilver(Vergil) decides to fight him.

Either way, solid chapter. Looking forward to the next one, man.

sad that "tony" and claire are done as a couple, but considering what dante faces in the future, maybe its for the best for claire's own safety, RE umbrella monsters got nothing on demons

Sadly there hasn't been a remake of code Veronica other wise this story could have a sequel
