Reviews for Queen of Ruin
Ransworn chapter 18 . 6/21
Well Renia is proving fantastic at carrying the plot so far. The depth of her traumas are evident without being obsessive and her current capabilities are treated the same way.

I honestly still love the diablerist system so far. Being set in a study of contrasts against Tristan's system works very well. I imagine the difficulty would come from writing a story completely set in Rutenia as the demons are capable of basically anything and that's in addition to other spirits and possible magics. Defining limits would maybe be done more in accordance with character than by system rules - very interesting but potentially overwhelming.
Ase Of SpADeZ chapter 18 . 6/16
Coming back to this after a few updates. Very good! Idk why but I love all the demons and how some are like cats but others are deadly
erdervv chapter 18 . 5/12
The greatest thing about this fic is slowly piecing toghter Reina story and the deeper workings of deamons and magic.

It's just so damn interesting, and this last chapter added a new entire level of the whole thing showing a demon that despite being, like all others, a disgusting and dreadful creature also seems to show honest care for a human, or at least, cares for her mental well being.
ZhaWarudo chapter 2 . 5/10
You're trying too hard at fancy writting, it's a pain to read. Just keep it clear who is talking or thinking and what the f is going on, I'm out.
Wildfurion chapter 18 . 4/28
Must confess, it's been a while I read this- so I'm kind of lost. Guess I'll have to do some re-reading for now.
Guest 907 chapter 17 . 4/16
Somehow I'd gotten the impression that Renia was a bad mother. Maybe not terrible, but distant at best.
Apparently I was wrong, because if this chapter is anything to go off of, she actually did a good job with Edmund. Which only makes the fact that he made a damn good effort at killing her even more painful.
This is a very humanizing chapter for Renia, at least in my opinion. Not that she wasn't already a very rounded character, but this chapter was what made me think, "Yeah, this is what a real person is like."
You're spoiling me so much. After reading a character like this, I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back to a story that doesn't do the same.
Zasrekh chapter 17 . 4/13
Awww... She is healing, slowly but she does! I wonder how long til she realises things could get better if she Lets them. Also is she a Void mage or similar?
RainEStar3 chapter 17 . 4/13
Chapters like these make this work a masterpiece. Renia's old country has a richly fleshed out lore that is explained in a sensible way. I can feel what she feels, and I can understand more and more how she came about. That's a rather nice way to inject lesser blood into the royal family. It set a good precedent.

I'm trying to determine if Reina is True Neutral or Neutral Evil. She has some dark dealings, but overall, not too bad of a person. You know, except when she's looking for sacrifices. Currently leaning toward Neutral Evil, but friendly(?).

I also like how Louise is growing in this story. Renia's like a cool, black horse aunt. She's showing Louise things the girl couldn't fathom before hand. Whether or not her intentions are pure, yeah, no, Reina is getting something out of this. But Louise is having a chance to be get away from being a "Zero", which will help her emotional growth. And mental, psychological, magical, basically everything except physical. She can't poof an adult body into existence with magic. Or maybe she could... hm, but it's probably cost the flesh of other people. Not worth it.
The Doom Slayer 94 chapter 17 . 4/13
The interactions between Louise and Renia were great! cant wait to see more!
Wildfurion chapter 16 . 4/7
I have to say I'm still in love with your writing style, even after such a long time away from the keyboard.
Guest 907 chapter 16 . 3/25
Lucky for Renia that humans can always rise higher. Perfection is an impossible goal.
Looks like Longueville is in over her head. At this point, becoming a sorceress is probably the only way to keep herself alive unless she gets someone to pay her prices for her. Maybe Wardes? Some noble from Albion? Should be fun to see.
Just out of curiosity, can spirits lie? I did a quick reread of this story looking for it and didn't find anything one way or the other. Though even if they can, they probably tell the truth as much as possible.
The Central Metric chapter 15 . 3/8
I have to admit that I binge-read the whole story over the course of a single morning. It was just that enthralling.

This is the best Familiar of Zero fiction I've ever read. The rare typo is barely noticeable as I got sucked in. Renia treads that difficult line between unforgivable and sympathetic well enough to be a complex character in any literary epic. All the cynical scheming, demonic deals, and baggage she brings with her makes for an intriguing read.

I'll hang on to see what comes next, you can be sure of that. Right now, it looks like things are still in Renia's favor. It'd be interesting to see how she deals with Albion and the Reconquista.
BanalCrepe chapter 14 . 2/17
This is the most original ZnT fanfic I've read. Really enjoying it.
pregar chapter 14 . 2/15
You have a way with words. Really interesting, this story.
RainEStar3 chapter 13 . 1/22
Renia is the far superior player in this game of people and politics. Tristan is stuck in a terrible position, and they're floundering at this point.
Well written byplay and unsaid statements. Sometimes I had to read them twice to get it, but it's well done.
