A well-done pep talk - a viewpoint adjustment - and of course I don't know these characters but I always enjoy your ultimately positive outlook on people and their worlds.

Lensman remains a fond part of binge reading SF at ages 13-15 and I'm nearly positive I read one of the books without becoming a true fan. Maybe the Smith books would sit better now that space opera moved beyond Flash and Buck into the glorified realms of Star Wars. *Some would say it hasn't moved far, ha!*

The Big Three consumed countless adolescent hours of reading time, with my favorite being Heinlein, followed closely by Clarke, with Asimov trailing in their dust. Just couldn't get into Foundation. I especially enjoyed Norton's books, too.

Upon Wiki'ing Lensman to see there was manga and squinting at the cover, it looks like the cover is manga-based.
