This was darling, and the ending was perfect!
Born-Of-Elven-Blood chapter 1 . 2/20
Father of the year, ladies and gents! I'm about to fall out of my chair laughing. This was so sweet and absurd and absolutely delightful! Gustave is one lucky kid! And that last line just made my whole day! This couldn't be better! Thanks for sharing it, it put a huge smile on my face!
CoatNTails chapter 1 . 3/19/2019
Where may I submit my application to be adopted by Mr. Y? I have it all filled out and can provide references. #1 Dad.
Also I don't care what Erik says, it is 100% canon that Fleck booped his nose. CANON.
(I effing loved every minute of this persephone!)
Navy Babe chapter 1 . 3/14/2019
Oh my heart. This little slice of perfect domesticity made me so happy. They’re an unusual family, but they’re family and they love each other so dang much! Your interpretations were so spot on. This part in particular had me literally cooing over how sweet Erik was: “As Mr. Y solemnly vowed that Gustave would never be stuck behind a closed door, Gustave was only thrilled to learn forbidden knowledge.” He never wants his boy to be locked in, he always wants Gustave to know how to escape from a locked room and my heart seriously just wanted to burst with how perfect and sweet this story was. And Christine wanting to join in on their midnight escapades was just the cherry on top. Thank you!

::tap tap tap::
I'M DYING OF LAUGHTER, DAROGA!

Where to begin?! The mention of their shared Boy Stuff passion, the tapping awake which almost made me pee my pants in laughter, the midnight flight from the penthouse on the back of a rangy old billy goat. Illicit coffee from a priceless khave, no doubt. The lock picking, glamouring the guard, the nose trick he learned from Fleck!

"We're responsibile fellows, aren't we?"

Holding him into the jaws of the least to check the sharpness of the teeth, "well, we've come a this way, may as well see everything..."

I think that but at the end is what got me. I think a lot of people who read might get wrapped up in the humor (which you've packed in spades) but the most impressive piece of this is the info we readers already know, but all our players do not-that this is how he gets to be a dad to his kid, under cover of darkness. "We've already come all this way, may as well make a night of it" because they won't be coming back anytime soon, more than likely, because that's not who he gets to be during the waking hours. The imparting of the lockpicking skills, the "let's get a little closer"... it's not necessarily responsible parenting, but it's all he's got, and he's going to teach his boy all he knows.

You've surpassed yourself with this one, and I'm so glad you did
ghostwritten2 chapter 1 . 3/14/2019
Oh my gosh, I loved this. Mr. Y and Gustave having nighttime adventures, and that adorable ending. Just delightful.
HC247 chapter 1 . 3/14/2019
You finished it! I was so excited to see a new LND story from you, you have no idea. (Okay, maybe you do, but still...)

Where do I even start? The beginning was very well done. Poor Gustave just wants to see the dinosaurs, Erik, Geez, Give the kid a break. Besides, you know you want to go too...

Erik waking up Gustave in the dead of night to go and then the escape from the house is PERFECT. "Wear dark colors! It'll be open for us! Oh, but we have to climb out the window and risk breaking a bone to get out just because we want to give your mother her sleep" OMG... I chuckled the whole way through all of that. Dramatic Erik is life. and I love how Gustave just goes with it.

Let's add lock picking and knocking out guards and then lying to your kid about it the 'Life Skills with Erik' class syllabus, kids. Valuable functioning adult information there. (I kid. The poor guy is trying. Kudos to him, lol)

Gustave's "dream" was very telling indeed and the details sound like he had a more than fun time with Mr. Y (Good for them!)

And then comes maman. Christine knows. I love it, especially how she makes Erik squirm about his antics and keeping the kid up all night with sugar and caffeine. Keep sweating, Erik.

And the ending was PERFECT! She knows Erik knows she knows. Gustave knows that he knows that she knows. It was delightfully awkward. And what did we learn from all of this, boys? Take. Mom. With. You. *Adds clapping hands here*

This was just a ball of fun wrapped in layers of wry humor and sweetness that was the perfect read before work this morning. You've earned the LND crown well, ma'am. Wear it proudly.
kwat0 chapter 1 . 3/14/2019
Oh this is so sweet, I enjoyed it very much, Erik and his little protege, teaching him how to pick locks, just priceless! And them getting busted at the end was great, poor Christine missing out on all the fun, I'd be cut up about it too.
CharlieBoneFan chapter 1 . 3/13/2019
I love this little family! I could so see Christine saying she would want to go too. Good job!
Riene chapter 1 . 3/13/2019
I did not see that ending coming! Mr Y needs to count his blessings-being n the receiving end of Christine's slow, soft wrath would be deadly. The man has NOT a clue how to be a good father...and yet maybe Gustave needs a little adventure in his life? I am surprised he could sleep after the coffee! Clever idea for a story. I can see them all being fascinated by the dinosaurs, and kudos for the mention of how cool museums are.
Starwatcher2018 chapter 1 . 3/13/2019
I LOVE THIS STORY! Guess they will have to go back, hmmmm? Christine likes her fun, after all. So love these characters as you write them and their family dynamic. A true LND lover.

Special note: Appreciated the poignant moment about Gustave never being locked behind a closed door reminding us of Erik's past.
FilthyBonnet chapter 1 . 3/13/2019
The Love Never Dies Fix It Fic Queen is back! And this is so delightful! Mr. Y's enthusiasm for Gustave just oozes out of him. Your stories all kind of tie together and I can't help but wonder if/when we'll ever get Gustave's reaction to him discovering Mr. Y is his real father.
