Huh, I wonder if having a human adopt a troll child resulted in a magical effect like the shape-shifting changelings have. Actually, maybe that would make Jim a natural changeling rather then the artificial ones that the Pale Lady created.

Wow, it somehow never occurred to me that Barbara wouldn't tell Jim he used to be blue. Toby's alien theory is a good one based on the evidence available to the boys.

If Jim can tell Claire is bothered by guys hitting on her (like, scenting her distress, not just picking up on it by basic understanding of human behavior or exaggerating it out of jealousy), that would make him more determined /not/ to flirt with her, because he wouldn't want that reaction directed at him.

This fic works well as a backstory for the show and 'alternate pilot episode'; solid selection for the stopping point.

Interesting, really can't wait for the sequel, and curious to see if Draal will be a little different toward Jim. Good work, dude.

This was a really cute chapter. I was a little worried we would see a member of the Janis Order when the Goblins arrived. Why do I feel like Jim and Toby asking Barbara if she's a monster hunter was foreshadowing of something?

All in all, another great chapter! Can't wait to see what adventures they get up to next! :)

The day at the beach was fun! Loved Jim 'taste testing' his sandcastles. The fight with the goblins was exciting. Blinky mentions goblins are vandals as well as scavengers, so a campground by the beach would be perfect for them - any damage could be passed off as the work of human drunks or pranksters.

Cute chapter, really can't wait to see Claire appearing. Good work.
