Rosenthorne chapter 8 . 3/19 Lovely writing, you handle the characters so well. I enjoyed reading your story. |
Ann chapter 8 . 2/19 This is so beautiful and sad. You are unbelievably talented. |
pandorias chapter 8 . 1/21 I'm awed by the way you described this vision of Gandalf, concerning Legolas' sea longing. I've never quite understood what it meant for him to never feel home again in his beloved woods - it was always just a ... fact. "That's the sea longing." But it just makes so much sense, and it's so much more heart-breaking what you wrote! I know of course that it's a fanfiction, but I have the feeling that now 'understand' this sea longing so much more than before. It was really and eye-opener, and I just love - but also fear - this concept. Tolkien himself was a master in what he wrote, but you're an artist and give this whole universe so much more depth. Especially since the sea longing can be transferred to so many things I myself have felt in the real world. |
lizbetanwrites chapter 3 . 10/30/2019 I don’t have words for how utterly delightful this collection is so far. I am LOVING IT. Especially this chapter, oh my gosh. It gave me all the Legolas/Gimli brotp feels and uGH. It’s so wonderful. I cannot WAIT to keep reading. Thank you for writing these stories—you’re my hero. :’) |
Gimli's Pickaxe chapter 8 . 10/26/2019 A truly stunning collection of stories. The way you depicted Legolas's sea longing, his yearning, never to truly be at rest anymore... it was just so beautiful, so tragically beautiful. I love all of your stories for the things they make me feel, how they make my heart beat a bit faster, for the emotions I know abound in them. I loved the way you drew Legolas in this installment of short stories, as well as his bonds with all those around him. This story was all I could wish for and more. :) |
Beccissss chapter 8 . 10/16/2019 Such a good story! My heart always aches when reading about Legolas sea longing. You have managed to capture it and him as a character very well here, I am a sucker for H/C and this story really provided me with much needed H/C! I read several scenes over and over because I was so enamoured! Would definitely read more of this! |
irishanor chapter 3 . 9/27/2019 What a beautiful collection of stories. I have such a special place in my heart for Legolas Gimli stories—and this little story just made my day. I also love that you included Éomer! I always love reading your work. |
lastseventh chapter 8 . 9/3/2019 It's amazing. Congrates! It's concluded! The new perspektive of Legolas having his people(elves) around while he's currently in a city full of human or other races, is faszinating. He is the follower, councilor, kind friend, and a royal, a commander at the same time. And you combined them so well. I firstly read about Maenor is in your Recoveries. I feel him more like a supporting character for the plot and a portrait of one of the good subjects of Thranduil. In this I found a more caring and sensitive friend, sometimes like elder brother. The chemistry between him and Leggy is so warm...I must continue reading other works of yours. I enjoyed your Evil series some years ago. Now I must catch up the latter ones! Thank you for these! |
problem in login chapter 8 . 8/31/2019 OH I want to hug Legolas... The scene with the daughter and father is so heartbreaking. And salvati9n is misspelled I think- |
lastseventh chapter 7 . 8/27/2019 It hurts so much when I read every elf has mourned but it's still news to Legolas. Tonight they are dead to him. Brings me tears. Aside victory there's still aftermath. from the smoke in their hair and clothes, we know how urgent Thranduil sent these nobles to Legolas, but at the same time, they plan the meetings, trades and other courtesy in need in details. They are really in the war for too long, like you write in this artikel, work, they should work, continue fighting. It's beautiful and realistic. |
ForestWren chapter 6 . 7/25/2019 I really love this chapter! It's so well written, and I think you did Legolas and Faramir really well. There are so many little moments and bits of dialogue that are really fun. Thanks for the great story! |
margie-me chapter 8 . 7/19/2019 If this whole standalone isn't a masterpiece more than praiseworthy, then I don't know anything about enjoying a fine read. You have given us two beings utterly different from their compatriots and one another, and brought them into a sphere of understanding which is so unique. It's nearly as if here, Gandalf and Legolas take on the roles, respectively, of father and son! A proud father comforting an ailing, beloved son. Just as Gandalf held the simple Hobbits in his special regard; so, too he does the Firstborn Eldar-but especially this particular young elf who has also suffered from the Ring War. Even in victory, he does not remain either unscathed nor unchanged. That the Sea Longing cut him off from hearing his most beloved trees-sad, indeed! You truly can't go home again, as the saying goes. May I commend your adding so much to the depth of Legolas' character, for you have done him better than the movies (much as I enjoyed them) ever portrayed Thranduilion! On top of this, you provided an out for Legolas' excusing himself from company, which was most excellent! Gandalf himself! ..."they will ask if they dare." The conclusion is simply priceless, Thank you. |
margie-me chapter 7 . 7/19/2019 Another nifty chapter. On top of everything, to have the Sea Longing tormenting his fea nearly every single waking moment, it's a wonder Greenleaf goes on at all! Maenor's distress and sorrow at gathering this through touching Legolas' fea is also heartbreaking, and as the royal healer, I think it must be his unhappy duty to relay this all to the Prince's father, though he doesn't wish it. I suppose this is not the same thing as fading, and relinquishing the life of the Eldar, is it? I think this allows Legolas to even have a keener sensibility of Frodo's final struggle and decision to leave, than even Sam and his closest kin could understand. Am I also right in assuming that, perhaps, Thranduil remains in Eryn Lasgalen for a time after Legolas sails? Or, have nearly all the elves in Arda left the shores of Middle Earth by the time Legolas and his Elvellon take ship? |
margie-me chapter 6 . 7/18/2019 Shadows, maybe, but Legolas certainly isn't one to given in to defeat. Lovely how he and Faramir had this little sojourn, thanks muchly to Faramir's love interest, Eowyn! That entire exchange about scents of different ones, and Faramir unconsciously bringing Legolas calm in the throes of agony was brilliant in itself! Again, another tidbit I wouldn't have imagined myself. It is nice to see their connection in experience as soldiers, coming to understand and reassure as they both recover. "The forest" and home is what Faramir reminded Legolas of, and Legolas gives the uncertain Faramir assurance of his place with the new King, his smitten hope with Eowyn (who thought to love Aragorn), and the remembrance of Boromir as a respected comrade. Simply wonderful! |
margie-me chapter 5 . 7/18/2019 And this is why Hobbits are so beloved by me! They are simply life and joy, and the love of it. Imagine everyone, even our now much abused elf, waiting to hear Frodo's bright laughter! A nice return, too, for Legolas' gift of a tune to hold back the darkness for the Ringbearer. Loved it! |
