This fic was amazing. The attention to detail was great, and I loved how accurate the character’s were. This is how Arkos should have happened rather than the way it happened in the show.

This was a wonderfully sweet little story.

Everything felt realistic too, nothing forcing them into this.

Just two nervous kids in love caring for one another and finally breaching the last barrier between them!

If RT had been more prudent with their episode lengths, so the industry standard 30 minutes, rather than the 15-20 that they went with.

Than they would've had far more time for plot and character development, well, that or using a companion webcomic/webserial to flesh things out. (Being charitable and going with the 20m mark, that means that by the time Season 3 rolled around they were missing out on a whole season worth of material compared to the 30m standard. 12x10 equals 4 episodes per season.)

As you're right, this scene DOES fit the two of them and it would've been a kinder way to resolve/setup the ship, than the path they chose.

Course either way in both Oum's original plan and the one RT went with Pyrrha was slated for fridging anyway. (Her own character arc wasn't properly completed either as she didn't experience the fallout of her confession due to contracting a case of being dead.) To power up Ruby and lead to a poorly implemented character development Arc for Jaune.

I'm calling it poorly implemented, as it's not even being utilized in the latter seasons now that RNJR is defunct and RWBY is in play again. He barely rates as a heal bot.

Lot of wasted character development options, INCLUDING Pyrrha, as well as other story angles.

Me and Dark_Dhampir over at AO3 had quite the side discussion in his "Chocolate Bunny Productions" story on this. (It's an AU set on Earth, where Coco and Velvet run a porn studio and various characters are performers. It started out as Porn without Plot, but now it's Plot with Porn.)

Even managed to come up with a rough idea how they could've handled things to properly explore all the plotlines they had going on and have enough room for foreshadowing things like the Brother Gods, rather than just dropping it in out of near nowhere and expecting a dry swallow of the proverbial pills. (So less info dumps.)

So yeah, lot of wasted potential with the show and they'd have been better off hiring folks like you or Solora Goldsun (the Queen of fluff) to name but two to handle things than what we ended up with.

Like Jaune, the show hasn't lived up to its fullest potential and that's a damned shame.

Not to say that it's horrid, but when you could pull off a 9.5 or 10 and only score a 7.5 to 8.0, than you're not hitting your full potential.

Also can't shake the feeling that Jaune will pull a Pyrrha to setup Team RWBY to have the killshot.

No happy ending with kids for him. As Lancaster is the only one with any real chemistry at this point and that's a very distant third to Rose Garden and WhiteRose.

Not helped by that his VA Miles Luna, who is also one of the writers seems leery to do any Jaune stuff, because of SI accusations. So everything falls upon the other writer, who's more interested in the RWBY girls.

So what better way than to get rid of the character by giving him his big damned hero moment and dying tragically.

IF we're VERY lucky we might get a Jaune/Pyrrha reunification scene in the after life. But luck and I aren't exactly on speaking terms, so it's doubtful.

And considering that female empowerment these days is more about removing male strength/contributions*, that means he probably won't even get a statue.

Unmourned, except for his Team, Ruby herself and his family. Kinda like only her Team and family mourned Pyrrha. Despite Team RWBY supposedly being her friends

Cynical? Probably.
But considering how life tends to go, most likely accurate as well.

(*: They should take a gander at the Wonder Woman/Superman fight in the DCAU Justice League episode, when she was being blackmailed by Felix Faust. THAT's how you do female empowerment. Superman wasn't nerfed, he was simply outthought and out fought. Thus making her win all the more meaningful. That yeah, she's just that damned good.)

I absolutely loved this. I feel like you did a good job of keeping them in character. Jaune would defo be more bashful about the whole thing and Pyyrha would be first to make the bigger moves. It was all suuupeer cute and it was really nice to get to read about them being closer in this way. Thank you!
