Guest chapter 33 . 2/2 One of the absolute best effing fics I’ve ever read. Seriously, the attention to detail and reality, along with the added in MCU Easter eggs—was awesome. Each time Stan Lee came on scene, I couldn’t help but salute. Thank you! |
gammathetaalpha chapter 33 . 11/27/2019 Sorry for going MIA for a bit there... and thanks for the super sweet shoutout! I loved your epilogue! I think Gwen's little speech to her Peter at his grave reveals a lot about her character and her mission, and ties the story up nicely. Great job on the finished product! Once you publish that web comic, please keep on sending me reminders until I give it a read and a Tumblr shoutout. Internet-related things have a tendency to slip my mind when I'm doing all the real life things, so poke me! Best of luck on future writing endeavors! |
Guest chapter 33 . 10/25/2019 What about "Miles! You got a minute?" |
StormCity chapter 33 . 10/24/2019 First of all, I'd like to congratulate you for sticking to the story and having the will to finish it. That's a good thing, you know? Your consistency and quite regular updates were some things I as a writer (that too of a Spider-Verse story) appreciate a lot. Managing so many characters and sticking true to the protagonist is, I feel, quite an achievement, and you have done so well. And as to having a satisfying conclusion is another good thing. I've enjoyed reading this story, and good luck on your future endeavors! |
CalmSheJaguar chapter 33 . 10/24/2019 I loved it |
CalmSheJaguar chapter 31 . 10/18/2019 That last line always gets me in the movie. Great chapter! |
The Evil Author chapter 26 . 9/2/2019 Ooh, two fer one update and so soon! I'm guessing the next part is a night (and next morning) with the spiders while Miles gets chased by the Prowler offscreen? |
The Evil Author chapter 24 . 8/29/2019 Ooh, an update! And here I was sure that this story had died due to neglect like so many others. And of course you ended the chapter at the most dramatic moment, or IOW, right when we (or at least me) are salivating for more. |
The Evil Author chapter 23 . 8/8/2019 Just discovered this story (mostly because I had only watched Spiderverse for the first time a few days ago). I like it. Good points: You managed to explain how Gwen got into Visions with no one thinking she's out of place AND explained where Gwen has been living all this time. You also managed to explain where Gwen got the lab coat/scientist disguise during the Alchemax raid (which hasn't happened in your story yet obviously). I also like how you portray Gwen's Spider Sense working; the all caps announcements makes it feel like comic book narration boxes. Bad Points: Well, not really BAD per se, but some of your story choices results in a few plot holes. You had Gwen and blond Peter meet FACE TO FACE. This is bad because the movie establishes that Spiders recognize each other on sight, or at least on close face to face meetings exactly like the one you had Gwen and Blonde Peter do. Given blonde Peter's celebrity status and merchandising, it would have been ridiculously easy for Gwen to see Spider!Peter from the distance or on TV or something and recognize him AS Peter. Second, by having Gwen infiltrate the actual Collider facility to the point that she can see Spider!Pete fight Green Goblin, you've pretty much eliminated the need for the scene from the movie where the Spider Gang poses as waiters. Gwen managed to get in and out without trouble, so she should have known of a route in that didn't require the Spider Gang to go through Fisk's party, much in the same way Miles knows that there's a way in through the basement that bypasses the rest of the building altogether. |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/23/2019 This whole story is a masterpeice. I would very much like to continue. My respects has a fellow writer |
StormMagi chapter 23 . 7/20/2019 Cool I like it |
Indigene Syke chapter 19 . 6/21/2019 Good job on this chapter! I enjoyed it and you handled that funny little time jump really well. |
Indigene Syke chapter 18 . 6/14/2019 Poor Gwen, have the suckiest of all sucky weeks... Nice job on this chapter! I'm excited to see how she reacts to the rest of it! |
Indigene Syke chapter 17 . 5/24/2019 Gwen had a pretty bad day there. So did Miles. That's gotta suck. Nice job on this chapter! |
series of numbers chapter 16 . 5/17/2019 In response to your note in chapter 11, I'm pretty sure that fanfiction is technically illegal to begin with unless it's of something in the public domain (which this movie isn't), but few companies or writers seem to care. That's not to say there's anything morally wrong with you writing this story - there absolutely isn't - but quoting verbatim from the movie shouldn't be a problem if that's what you want to do. Now, as for actually reviewing the story, let me get the few negatives out of the way first. In chapter 5 it seems like the worst the guy has done when Gwen assaults him with her elbow is follow her and make her uncomfortable. Yeah, it turns out he was a scumbag shortly thereafter, but she didn't know that was going to happen. I find her hard to like or side with in that scene. Maybe have it be indisputable that the guy is awful before Gwen commits assault. Like maybe if he tried to grab her in an a private area and THEN she elbows him in the throat? Also, I'm confused by that part in chapter 12 that says Peter "bullied" his way through the rubble and flames. How does one "bully" a material or chemical reaction that doesn't have feelings? Did you mean to put a different word there? With those out of the way, this is otherwise pretty good! It's written much more like a professional book then most fanfiction and you've clearly put a lot of thought into the spider sense. Writing a character's individual "voice" is a hard thing to do in my experience - especially if you're doing it constantly because the story is focusing on the character's thoughts all the time - but you've done a masterful job and it seems very natural. I also enjoy the little touches representing differences between dimensions like "Googol" and "Wall blues". Almost everything here seems like it would fit perfectly into the universe - or I guess technically multiverse - of the film. I look forward to reading more Gwen's conversations with Miles and her meeting the other spider people from her point of view. Keep up the great work! |
