Reviews for The Gamer Hero, Deku
Dezcon chapter 10 . 17h
Right. Let me see if I got this right. So Hagakure learned that Magic exists the day before this chapter and that she has an affinity for the light element. How? Who knows, maybe Izuku observed her and told her, it was never mentioned how she found out she had a light element.

The very next day she is able to use it, make it powerful enough to melt ice. Not even "Hey I practiced all night and didn't sleep a wink at all, at first I could only make it glow a little bit like sunshine or a very weak flashlight but the more I practiced and more familiar I got with it I was able to power it enough to I dunno fucking make light strong enough to melt ice in seconds overnight."

I mean the only thing Bakugo said was "well you see I basically just tried to use my quirk and instead of you know making it flow to make explosions I kinda just pushed it to a different direction and that's how you use magic", that's all it took for the girl who is invisible to understand. I mean I'd probably not have such a huge problem with it if it was another emitter type that tried to recreate what Bakugo did but doesn't Hagakure's Quirk just make her invisible. How the fuck did she figure that shit out from what Bakugo said?

And then the other dude with his Tail is also doing some magic shit I think. It's like a chapter ago no one knew about magic. One chapter later everyone knows how to use magic. Ma dud...

This is what I was talking about in my previous review. Nah chief, this is my stop. Thanks for the chapters!
Dezcon chapter 9 . 18h
Yeah, not really a fan of "everyone can learn magic now". I really, really dislike when I see Gamer stories do that. Same shit with the party system, giving others access to their stats and shit and I know that it's canon from The Gamer, I still don't like it. Never liked it. If all it did was just allow people to communicate that would be fine I guess.

Anyways. I'm sticking around for a couple more chapters hoping that everyone won't become OP overnight, Deku becoming OP fast I get cuz he is The Gamer and that is a bullshit power. And well Bakugo kinda since those two have been training together for some time, I can see how Bakugo would be able to somewhat keep up. I just hope Iida and the others won't learn magic and then overnight he's progressed as much as Bakugo and Deku on using it. That would suck. But, that's like, just my opinion.
Alank327 chapter 12 . 7/23
Okay, you lost me when you started giving others magic and elementals. Too fucking confusing and dumb imo.
Adeptus Academicus chapter 16 . 7/19
Splitting an atom isn't the same as separating different atoms. The former is much more energetic for one and also changes the elemental composition (because an atom is split into two or more smaller atoms) while the latter is basically just cutting or melting the material.
Irish.lee chapter 11 . 7/19
Seeing how katsuki just tsukoyomi-commentary izuku made my day lol XD
Kyrianae Narii chapter 26 . 7/18
OKay the thing Izuku did with Singularity and his Black hole reminds me greatly of Tousen (Bleach) Bankai ability where he black outs the entire area within its 'space' where he can hear everything/feels where everything is.
TeraelinII chapter 9 . 7/18
quote of the day by bakugou "now shut up so I can detect fuckery"
Darth vast chapter 24 . 7/18
Bakugo is a colossal moron sometimes
hurt himself just two win a fight when there were probably 6 different ways to do it that didn't hurt him
RiIl chapter 1 . 7/18
Bakugous int score seems a little low, considering he's generally smarter than Izuku.
World Theory chapter 25 . 7/17
Deku is OP, pls don't nerf! Seriously though, that's crazy! Completely choco-bananas!
World Theory chapter 24 . 7/17
Yep! That was a good fight!

The fighting style seems to have developed significantly since the addition of magic, and actually having magic in widespread use around the world wasn't something I had anticipated back in chapter 5; I hadn't really understood what combat would really look like when I was at that point in the story. I think it might be completely viable to use full-on magitech support equipment, if someone can figure out an energy dense power source to keep it running. Although I still don't know if magitech equipment has any advantages over the super science tech already available, or if they'll simply end up being merged a little at a time as people tinker with it. I simply haven't read any mention of what is going on in the wider world as far as magic and technology are concerned, other than that some people invented some magic engines that run off of various energies. My assumption though, is that a living mage still needs to be present to provide those energies. I'm excited to see how these things develop though. And I still think the ducted fan vambraces and shin guards could be useful, if only to provide flight with less strain on mana or the backlash of a quirk.

As for taking the accent out of Shōto… I didn't think it needed to be there in the first place. How many people actually know how to read those marks anyway? Besides, if you know enough about how Japanese works—specifically, if you know how the pronunciation works—you don't really need the accents. I'm not saying that everyone does know that though. I'm not really sure what point I'm trying to make here now, actually. Uh. Whatever! The vowels all seem to be very consistent in Japanese, as the sounds don't really get modified by whatever characters are next to them, and there's only one way to pronounce each vowel unless I have mistaken something pretty badly. Technically, I'm not sure Japanese actually has vowels or consonants, unless those words can refer to sounds, and not just letters. Yeah, I might not have as complete of an understanding on this topic as I thought, looking back. But uh, I'm totally fine with leaving out the accents or whatever they're called. If you're really attached to the accents though, you might be able to turn on an on-screen keyboard on your computer, and configure it to show accents. Though I think I read somewhere that you can type in accents by using a special key combination after typing in the letter you want to accent. You might start researching with Wikipedia, by pasting an accented letter into the search field. There's also a weird placeholder character for accents, that looks like a large circle drawn with a dotted line; the article for that character may link to something useful.
Gamelover41592 chapter 26 . 7/17
excellent work on this chapter and it looks like Izuku has a lot to prepare for
agentshark1200 chapter 8 . 7/17
Mineta is funny even if he is a perv
World Theory chapter 13 . 7/17
Well. That sucks for 1-A; they will apparently not get any disaster rescue training unless the school figures out how to squeeze a second try into their schedule. I think that's the greatest crime the League of Edgy Weirdos managed to comit; the disruption of important, life-saving training for a whole class of future heros.
World Theory chapter 8 . 7/16
I think my favorite part was of the chapter was reading Tokoyami Fumikage's title, “Hello Darkness, My Old Friend”. It made me laugh. I remembered a flash of some old story I read, where the protagonist had a tendency to end up being knocked out from various things, like exhaustion, concussions, ambushes with knockout chemicals, and stranger things. (Fairly often, that's actually how the chapter would leave off.) And I think at one point, the protagonist thought that line to themself as they lost consciousness; “Hello Darkness, My Old Friend”.

I also liked the title Yaoyorozu Momo had, “Pure Imagination”. Partly because I read it in my head as the words to a song. The other part is that it fits her Quirk, and how she uses it. Just as a side note, I think she's really cool. And now that I think of it, she could probably benefit from some magical meditation skills or something to boost her mental skills even higher. Not that her physical skills are unimportant, quite the opposite. (I almost said “quite the opossum”. Auto complete has a sense of humor, I swear!)
