Ruiniel chapter 12 . 7/22 This chapter was mystical! I like the dream state atmosphere of it, enhanced by the fire, which is a constant life giving and cleansing source in the Hall. As Elrond listens and they both stare into it together, I got this sense that it gained a sort of prophetic nature. And let me say again I enjoy your poems, they always evoke great images. Miaddar's pain was palpable in the way you wrote it. Now we know what has her so wretched. I loved the song again, and the way Aragorn felt it in his dreams like a sort of shamanistic overture. |
daughterofthechief chapter 4 . 7/8 so good to see you update! I really enjoy your work and can't wait to hear more from you xx |
Ruiniel chapter 11 . 7/7 The encounter between Estel and Miaddar! That was very insightful for her. I liked how you brought them all closer here. She reaches out to Elrond. Aragorn's little trick with the cake was just sweet, as though they were baiting a reluctant woodland creature, which she acts like at first. Estel's character development is great in his changed perception of her. I love the line "It is her shadow, not ours." Well done! |
Ruiniel chapter 10 . 6/22 I always enjoy the way you build on the relationship between Aragorn and the twins. Despite what is happening around them, they still appear to keep a shard of childlike companionship. And now, this mysterious elleth! Their encounter and her hesitation were nicely done. My favorite part of this chapter has to be Aragorn's musings on her shadow and it's almost endearing to see he is still a youth who longs for peace. It shows he is still growing as a person, and has desires and wishes. You humanize him very well. |
Ruiniel chapter 9 . 6/9 I enjoyed the Aragorn POV here, and it's something I haven't seen too often in LOTR fics I've read. And oh, poor Legolas, confused and affected by the night's happenings.I liked the way you showed him trying to make sense of his feelings. Great update! |
Ruiniel chapter 8 . 5/24 *oooh* Let me open the window it got hot in here.I adored the fire scene (I know, which one? *wink wink*). The dancing game and surreal atmosphere, the colors, the sounds. You made use of all our senses for this one! I could clearly see the figures dancing with the fire and desert beats. And then that scene... you introduced it slowly, and I liked the mystery surrounding the interest of his heart and body, this woman; and apparently she was not the only one with some power over him, as she stayed. I enjoyed how you showed that, and let me tell you it was nice the way she more or less seduced him so deeply (and easily? heh) without actually doing anything. To him, it may have been merely a dream. It's cool the way you used the color red *the red tent* to symbolize and contain that single passionate moment, a secret between them. Great fiery update! |
Ruiniel chapter 7 . 5/6 Oops, I hit send accidentally before I finished the review (don't you hate it when that happens?) Anyway I also wanted to say it was sad to read Legolas' hesitation to speak of his home, but so well done! And then that line "Or was she looking at him?" Bam! Hello! Really well done in spiking interest there. Great chapter my friend. IMO this story deserves more views, more comments, just... more! |
Ruiniel chapter 7 . 5/6 One of my favorite chapters. I absolutely adored the ethereal and magical atmosphere of stories by the fire, the tales of Amar and Taria. How they live in peace and respect and listen to the elements. I loved reading how you weaved the stories of the Sirith and the people of the desert, and their history together. And when Taria begins to sing, it's magic again! I always admired your poetic style. s was beautiful. |
Ruiniel chapter 6 . 4/23 I loved many things about this chapter. The bantering between the two friends. The description of the people of the desert was absolutely enthralling and I loved it. The same goes for your detail of the surroundings. There is color and sound, and it comes alive. The Lady of the desert was so well thought out and written. Both she and your other OC Amar are great. I also like how your version of Legolas is so scarred bit still has a certain innocence about him. And this is shown through his delight in playing with the children. Great update! Take care |
Ruiniel chapter 5 . 4/14 I loved the urgency and swiftness of the battle, and reading Legolas come into his own lethal self. Ah! It was nice to read how struck he is by the new appearance of the mystery woman, and the effect she has on him. This seems new to him. I also like your OC Amar, he is so wise in the way he introduces the two friends to this foreign culture. I think their perception of the desert lands, with its dangers and surprises was very well written. Great update my friend! |
Ruiniel chapter 4 . 3/31 Argh, the tension in this chapter! I loved the brave attempt to rescue the children, and as I was rereading this, I was on edge when they caught him. The fear and anxiety spanning from past hurts were so well described! I felt so bad for Legolas when he tried so desperately to think of anything else except his situation. And it was nice to read the event from the POV of Aragorn as well. And now we have the mysterious appearance in her blue veil! I'm glad you keep updating this, looking forward to the next piece (even though I have read these, it was so long ago that it doesn't matter haha!) Stay safe! |
Ruiniel chapter 3 . 3/21 New update! I liked their stealth working together and the suspense of this chapter. Their incursion inside the fortress is dangerous and exciting, and good thing too that they reached the youths. I liked the intricate description of that place from the inside. It was endearing to read the dark memory resurfacing from what the elf was seeing and how Aragorn helped calm him down. Happy writing and stay safe, too! |
Ruiniel chapter 2 . 3/12 And the journey continues! I loved the desert chase and the way you write the friendship between a young Aragorn and his elf companion. I also personally like the change in perspective, and this chapter we have Aragorn's POV. The mysterious riders ... we get a glimpse of blue against burnt yellow dunes, so the visual contrast you built is quite nice. I like how this picks up and of course, looking forward to what (I know) will be an exciting few chapters. Again, very taken with this exploration of this part of Middle earth. Happy posting! |
Ruiniel chapter 1 . 3/8 I am so very happy you are updating. This story deserves to be read and enjoyed, and the setting and subject, that of the South and its people, is one deserving more exploration in this Universe. The descriptions of the desert storm were very intense and poignant. You know my opinion: your poetic style certainly helps add drama and color to your descriptions. To anyone trying this fic: it will be a beautiful, intriguing and tastefully written ride. I like the fact that you are exploring pre-lotr adventures of Aragorn and Legolas. I also enjoy their conversation style. And you did great work describing the scars awakened after what the elf witnessed. All in all excited you are posting this story. Well done! |
Hawaiichick chapter 1 . 12/3/2019 I would love to read this story when ready. Hope you make it a available soon! :) |
