codyhobgood271 chapter 1 . 7/31 First of all holy cow was this long it took me forever to read but on the plus side I enjoyed reading it to the end and the first chapter was a good way to kick it off so over all good work. :) |
chopsticc chapter 15 . 7/25 i legit started reading this out of curiosity and before i knew it i got so absorbed and invested in the story. loving where this is going, cant wait for the next chapter :D |
Fitroz777 chapter 15 . 7/13 I know I'm very late to the party, what with my finals happening at college, but damn this was a pretty good read. I cannot stop reading this (unless I slept lol) because it's just that awesome and well done. The fight scenes were brilliant, you should be screenwriting the anime fight scenes cuz that's all I can imagine during those fights. And Gumball and Teri uniting with Candi was nice knowing she left her bunch of thugs behind (although there's tension between Teri and Candi). This was an amazing chapter overall and I can't wait to see what happens next. |
Misticons chapter 15 . 6/13 Ran through the chapter and the end is sounding very ominous. Love the creative progress you are doing and can't wait to hear what happens next. |
Guest chapter 15 . 6/12 HOLY SHIT! I know I’m stating the obvious when I say that shit is going down in the next chapter. Now I only have one question in my mind right now for Chapter 16: When will Gumball and Teri finally truly kiss each other!? |
Villicus chapter 15 . 6/12 It's very cold but also direct to just bluntly tell someone there's no way out while spitting out all sorts of facts and numbers that just reinforce the feeling, so what a wake-up call for Teri. Even worse when we learn how badly Gumball messed himself up with his third rune. Like, jeez, ruptured internals, that makes me wince slightly. I don't know what kind of tech the NEA has but being able to nurse someone in that critical of a condition back to full health, even with spiritual energy voodoo magic considered, is nothing short of cutting edge. Yeah, of course it's inside a dormant volcano. Really hitting the usual expectations for epic environments here. Despite knowing about this introduction scene earlier, it still feels pretty awesome to finally have Iris introduce himself in his true form. And of course, he explains that an initiation test is about to commence. Into the forest we go. And Gumball finally gets his badass moment, albeit a short-lived one. He cut off that guy's fingers, like jeez! That's hardcore! It's not surprising that Teri was able to pull him out of that funk, but I am surprised that he's still able to walk after that. I'm really glad Candi joined their group, because despite being a robot, her hesitation was apparent, and the explanation that followed afterward was satisfying. Also really nice to see Teri finally being able to basically use herself as a spiritual energy weapon, and I'm wondering if this is where the working title of Inkblot came from? Curious. Speaking of Candi, I think she's been postponing her system updates, because cold definitely does not help. In fact, if you count Mythbusters as credible at all, it's proven that people exposed to low temperatures for long periods of time take significantly longer to solve problems and have a much slower reaction time. The cold absolutely doesn't make people focus! And some more lore dropped on us! So Gumball possesses a weapon from one of four soul knights, eh? I wonder where the other three's weapons are. I'm sure they'll make their appearances sooner or later, and I'm also certain that they may or may not be wielded by well-known characters. Time will tell, and I'll see it through to the end. Hell yeah! Rub— Gumball took care of that Grimm- I mean Aviantaur with that epic scythe decap! Nothing more badass than tearing something UP a cliff then taking its head off at the top! And now some more backstories. This look inside Nimrod's life and Babyloth itself is actually very strange. It makes them feel a lot more human and less like evil monsters from outer space, and I suppose that is the point. I've almost forgotten that Nimrod's rise to leadership was not without conflict, and Gorothim embodies that with his hatred for the president and his ulterior motives as general of the army. I don't know why, but I saw in my head a scenario where because of Gorothim, Nimrod would have no choice but to team up with the defenders of Earth. Utterly ludicrous, but hey, possible. Back at Beaco- I mean Lantern Academy, I can't help but feel My Hero Academia vibes as well. I know the idea of kids being students training to be monster hunters or heroes or whathaveyou isn't exactly new, but it's such a cool idea that I don't mind seeing it being explored, and you really manage to make it interesting and intriguing all throughout. I'm curious why the elite team are considered the elite, as it was mentioned they had to train for five years, and you know, the idea that you needed five years to pass the inititation test sort of screams "noob" rather than "#1 team" to me. We also see more of Iris's sense of humor (or rather how incompatible it is with his students) and it's both cringey and funny. Our first look at the proceedings of Central Twelve. Very secretive, as expected, but awesome to know that the NEA have an orbital cannon at their disposal, though the Nephilim seem to have a superweapon of their own as well, so it may very well be a stalemate still. All in all, a very good penultimate chapter to the first arc, with tons of foreshadowing and foreboding in tow, dragging away the reader in an overwhelming torrent of suspense, humor and action. The end is nigh, and I'm very excited to see it all unfold. As always, here's another song to fit the mood, at least for me. Pax tecum. "It's step up time, a bullet in the chamber And ready or not, got a date with danger Three, two, one, let's go Me, you and the crew down to sound a deathblow Rise — up — against invasion, daughters and sons of a new machine gun One, two, three, let's go Me, you and the crew deliver a deathblow We stand alone against the enemy... Commit our lives to freedom willingly... Defending to the end all that we know... We give your final gift as our... death... BLOW!" — Deathblow (feat. Celldweller) by SeamlessR |
Guest chapter 13 . 6/2 If Penny returns to Elmore, I think it is closing an unfinished cycle in her relationship with Gumball, which I feel is not completely closed. If not, the situation would become an unnecessary love triangle for this story. What evil mind do you have, friend, to make Gumball suffer? Bye. |
OriginalThypo chapter 14 . 5/29 Very well done, I could see that this is going to be like a two hour movie if this were animated in a way. Anyhow, I would say that you did a very good job on writing this one aswell as the storyline! |
IGotBoredAndChangedMyName chapter 14 . 5/19 tbh probably should've chilled out on the flashbacks a bit, got kind of confusing at times |
OkamiSamurai chapter 14 . 5/15 Utterly fantastic. This chapter was definitely worth the wait. PM me for more, my dude. |
Guest chapter 14 . 5/4 Oh Chapter 15 better come out sooner cause I am so glad that this story got a new chapter. |
DaniJIE chapter 11 . 5/4 This Review is in Spanish. Excuse me, I don't speak English well. Fitroz777 chapter 14 . 5/3 Another fantastic chapter! I never thought Jamie would join in the cause and thought she was gonna stick by Tina, but apparently she had change of thought. Masami and Leslie also appears to continue with their scheme despite Gumball and Teri being out of town. Rob and Rachel had a pretty sweet moment, at least until Rob's helm blew off and Rachel passed out. Darwin running away seems pretty sad to me seeing as he believes that it was his responsibility but it's quite the tear jerker when Carrie confronts him about it. And the Awesome Store owner knows something about the scythe. Seeing as to how mystical the scythe looks, I can't say I'm surprised and it did seem coincidental but it proves for a better exposition. I also like the teaser you put on my characters. It's cool you wanted them in your story and thanks for that. I always love to see how people can adapt others' own characters to their own universe. Overall, this was a great chapter and worth the wait. Looking forward to the next chapter. |
ParagonV5 chapter 14 . 5/3 Man this is so good! I love the struggles everyone’s having since Teri and Gumball’s been taken, and I can’t wait to see what you got for them later! I liked that karaoke scene too, and the flashback that Rob manages to get, even the way he used the Superintendent Evil disguise again. But yeah, I think you managed to do a great job making a whole chapter that doesn’t include our protagonists and still make it interesting! This encourages me to get to finishing my banters so I can get started on my story finally. |
Villicus chapter 14 . 5/2 I'll be honest, I didn't expect that opening scene, but in hindsight it does make a lot of sense now that several of the students know about the situation and want to help with the fight. And quite a fight we are treated with, involving your signature surreal creatures from Babyloth. Wow, Iris controlling Bobert. That's pretty cool, and also haunting when considering the whole situation. Even worse when's spitting out statistics and facts that basically say, "Yeah we're screwed." And then of course, a dark backstory for Teri's father, because why not. Just epic! And now a proper introduction to Nero. They say that politics is made up of two words. Poly- meaning multiple, and -tic, for blood-sucking insect. Joking aside, I'm glad there's a clear-headed foil to this clearly detestable person. Speaking of blood-sucking insects, I see Masami and Leslie are bringing their plan into action. Man, so many subplots. It's awesome! I'm also seeing more and more material inspired from Rick Riordan's works and Greek/Roman mythology. It's awesome that Scylla is a thing, and I'm wondering if Charybdis is too? And so Darwin departs. Very intriguing. Neurons firing on what could possibly be going on, but I'm sure that'll be answered in the future, though I'm guessing more questions will come, too. Ooooh, Iris is the CEO! I know you mentioned this before but I thought this was for the rewrite you were considering but I'm so glad to see that you've weaved it into the current version! Hell yeah. Nice to see that Iris has a sense of humor, too. Aw hell, you used Rob's disguise from the finale! That's a frickin' brilliant application! I like that you had Iris explain that specialization within a team is far more effective than a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. And I also love Rob's final line as he picked his element. Hmm, so the Awesome Store vendor knows of the scythe. It's just mystery upon mystery, huh? The lore dump from Mrs. Jotunheim answers that, it seems. I'm digging it. That's... you know, I'll ignore that bit you did with Carrie. And the demon is summoned, leaving a harrowing prediction for the future. I wonder how much of it is true and how much of it is just nonsense? Hahaha, the dance. And the song! Oh, this is great. Oooh, the un-corruption begins. Well, at least for one person, at least? Man, what a trip. As always, this story just gets more captivating and alluring that I want to get into it more and more with each chapter. I'm blown away by how amazing and deep and well orchestrated all these little bits and pieces are put together into one coherent story. Plot is taking off even higher, characterization on-point and genuine, environments and geography well-thought out (I see that RWBY reference, by the way), and despite all the answers being provided, more mysteries are showered upon the reader but in a way that awakens the curiosity and wonder in oneself, not overwhelming or boring or filler-y. Truly, I expected nothing less from the incredible FantasticSchaefer, haha. Superb writing. Just astounding. I can't lavish this with enough praise, and though I've spotted a few grammatical mistakes here and there, I'm sure that'll be smoothed out in time. Here's your obligatory song excerpt, and until next time, I will be awaiting eagerly for the next chapter once more. Pax tecum. "What can you hear inside your head? Is it all the words that you can not say? Does it fill you with regret? Or do you think some things are best left unsaid? It’s all I can do, so I excuse... Everything that comes around! What I would give to speak the truth... The breaking point is coming soon... My mind fills with static... Cos I tried to hide it... This MIND IS FILLING, WITH STATIC, YOU SEE! The breaking point is coming soon! THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE!" — Breaking Point (feat. Robin Adams) by Joe Ford & Celldweller |
