Reviews for What Might Have Been
Olivia Munn chapter 18 . 5/3
This is a very accurate depiction of what might've happened in the timeline of alive Rufus. of course even without Jessica alive there relationship would not be flowers and sunshine, and this properly shows it.
Great story! Looking forward to more.

This was the first time I read this fiction, and it's so good! Please update soon!

You have once again outdone yourself. This chapter is great. There are so many wonderful aspects. First off, you have created some meaningful interaction between the characters. The first being the dialogue between Wyatt, Lucy, and Flynn in the kitchen allows the characters, and readers, to have more empathy for and understanding of Flynn’s actions. The next being when the groups are pairing up. One of my favorite parts of “The General” episode is when the groups pairs off. You have provided in your alternative account a glimpse of how Wyatt felt in the television episode, and allowed the same pairing to fit your version with a deeper comprehension of the feelings of Wyatt and Lucy. You may or may not have done it purposely, but the way the Rufus’s dialogue provides a relief from rising angst makes the story more intense. You build up the deeper emotions and then before the energy becomes too much to handle, you give a break from the emotions. The second reason this writing is a higher quality piece is the time and effort you put into the historical accuracy. Some readers may not realize this television episode did not correctly portray history. As you state in your notes, the actual story of the Combahee River Raid encompassed so many interesting details. The raid on Combahee Ferry, which was such a successful operation that it initiated a union strategy that was repeatedly used to allow troops to move further into the confederacy territory, is easier to tell in writing, but the way you used much of the accurate account shows how you appreciate and value history. Another aspect that puts this story above par is the realistic aspect. You take parts of the television series that require viewers to suspend disbelief and common sense and provide a logical basis that fits into your alternative fiction. You remain true to the basic inferred plot (of controlling Wyatt through a fake pregnancy) while calling it out so that it fits realistically. Yes, this is easier to do in writing, but could also have been done so much better in the series. The fact that you also do all of this while writing additional stories and living your real life is further evidence of your talent. It is easy for a reader to forget you do this as a hobby. Each installment is worth the wait, even if it is difficult for your fans to do so.

Great chapter. Not only do you have a feel for the characters, but you seem to have a great knowledge of history. I have liked all your timeless stories I have read so far. So keep up the good work, and don't worry if it takes time, nothing rushed is as good as something that you've taken your time with.
Quill plus Parchment chapter 17 . 5/11/2019
I finally managed to catch up with this story and I'm amazed!
To be honest, I was looking forward to a Jessica-free storyline and was at first a little disappointed when you brought her back into the mix as well, but then I actually started to enjoy your version of the events.
I guess bringing her back actually allowed you to stay closer to the real show, and therefore it is refreshing to see them (especially Wyatt) behave more like I wanted them to behave all along. So thank you very much for going through with this after all, even the all-too-convenient-pregnancy-from-hell. Yuck! But you make me actually look forward to what is going to happen next now, lol.
That being said, I'm also impressed every time how much work and effort you put into the historical background of your stories! Definitely keep up the great work!
Gracielinn chapter 17 . 5/8/2019
First of all, no apologies are necessary-RL seems to find a way to fill every hour of the day, even when we want to do nothing but write Timeless fanfic, amiright? ;)

Secondly, I am so impressed by the amount of historical detail you incorporate into your stories. It really adds to my enjoyment when reading!

Poor Wyatt-not only was he blindsided by RH Barbie's TOTALLY FAKE pregnancy claim, but now he has to trust Flynn to keep the love of his life safe...and even in this story, Wyatt does not trust the man much at all.

Another great chapter. I will be sorry to see this one end :))

I am really enjoying this version of events! I can’t wait to read more.

Great story. I loved the fact that you had Wyatt sign the divorce papers. And I agree with you that, how could she know Wyatt was alive unless she was rittenhouse. It was all so obvious from the minute they brought her back. Will there be more chapters?
Rachel.Elizabeth.96 chapter 16 . 4/21/2019
A very good story. It’s very different than what I was expecting, but I really like the different tale on the series and the possible “alternate timeline” caused by Jessica. Can’t wait to read more!
Gracielinn chapter 16 . 4/17/2019
Wow, this was a great chapter :) And good on Rufus for the "gentle" nudge he gives Lucy towards Wyatt. I especially like the RH part at the end because for all her brilliance, CP doesn't really know her daughter at all, does she? And I still really, really hate RH Barbie Jessica for all the pain she caused Wyatt and Lucy :/ Nice job!
Gracielinn chapter 15 . 4/17/2019
I felt the same about 02x08. While it was really nice to have an AC-centric episode and there were some great individual moments like "Cagney and Lacey" and AC waiting 30 years to thank Wyatt for saving her life, you're so right that the episode did almost nothing to further the RH season two storyline. Good job on changing things up a little bit :))
Gretchybby chapter 16 . 4/17/2019
The return of Weapon of Choice! Still one of my favorite episodes and it's fun to imagine how the movie would have gone! Loved the introspection of Wyatt going over Flynn's situation and the desperation of both of their positions and how easily that could have been Wyatt going nuts if not for his distractions. Makes me actually want to emphasize with Flynn...a little bit.

Finally, Lucy and Wyatt back together!
LyattLogan chapter 16 . 4/17/2019
Another great chapter! I do love Rufus being a better friend and I can see Lucy coming around to the idea of being with Wyatt now and not wasting time. The Lyatt “scene” was adorable and I love how Lucy turned Wyatt’s teasing back on him lol. I’m curious what Nicholas has in mind for Lucy. I love getting to learn more about Flynn. And Rittenhouse knows that the team is stronger and Wyatt and Lucy are stronger when they’re together.

You always thank us for reading. Thank you for writing. Your writing is superb. Your insight into the characters and plot points bring so much to your readers. This unique take is how I (and I am sure many) wish the episodes had gone. Not only are you keeping a series many loved alive, you are making it better. It is appreciated that you don’t just rewrite what we have seen, but keep what is required so the storyline remains intact while bringing your own unique twist. You remain true to the characters people love and expand on and give us more. Please know how appreciative I am (and likely many others) that you continue to write, and do so on Timeless.
Gracielinn chapter 14 . 4/7/2019
Dang, but I wish so badly that we'd seen YOUR version of the whole Jessica mess onscreen. I love Wyatt Logan dearly, but CP really jerked him and the rest of the team around big time. This was another great chapter, and I'll be sad when you finish this story :/
