I thought the premises of the story was good, especially with this Hiro being a clone. However, the problem I had was your style of writing. You wrote Hiro so back and forth it almost gave me whiplash. From the beginning, you built up his feelings of jealousy against Mitsuru riding with Zero Two and showed his resolve to be her Darling with their second ride together. And then you completely regressed his step forward and repeated to do so every time after he took a step forward again. The back and forth with Zero Two is understandable, that’s the way she was in the show and you expressed that point further with outlining her struggling feelings of guilt, desperation, obsession, etc. But having Hiro continue to do so after building up for him to take such a major step forward compared to his canon counterpart? With the way it seemed you were going with this story it just makes it confusing and unnecessarily conflicting for the sake of drama, in my opinion. Other than that, great job on portraying the underlying feelings of the character, from Zero Two’s conflicting feelings, Ichigo’s obsession, Goro’s forced happiness and silent despair. Great job.
