This was so good, honestly the show should have ended like this. Also your characterisation is spot on; all the characters seem so true to themselves. And Sokka ‘channeling his inner Wang Fire’ was too funny

I could never even dream of writing 8k words for a single chapter. The most I can write is 1k words per chapter.

So I suppose this is an AU, considering Aang and Katara kissed at the end of Sozin's Comet Part 4: Avatar Aang.

I love it I love it, thank you for this. It’s bright and raw and makes me feel so many things for them. I love the humor and the beautiful, absolutely imperfect confessions and Toph & Suki being badasses and Aang’s understanding and just—everything!
You have to wonder, what happened to Mai, though? Didn’t say hi when she saw that Katara got to Zuko first?
Can I reemphasize how much I love the beautiful, humorous, imperfect confessions?
And Iroh’s tea metaphors were brilliant! Might even be the best I’ve ever seen.

I like your explanation for Aang’s chakra/Avatar state. As a Zutarian, I’ve always seen it as a another piece of evidence that Kataang shouldn’t have happened, but that’s not quite right, is it? Look at the previous Avatars; they had their loves. Maybe it’s because I’ve yet to understand the depth of love, but it seems strange to me that the Avatar state would be blocked by that. So maybe it wasn’t quite loving Katara that was the issue, but crushing on her or having her on the mind or feeling the need to out her above all else, like Aang did when he was training with Pathik and realized she was in danger.
Okay, that’s enough outta me. I soooo enjoyed this one shot. This deserves to be read more. Any Zutarian who isn’t reading this is missing out on something wonderful. Thank you for the read!
