I've got to wonder why Nabiki hasn't been continuing those lessons with Genma though, given the multiple attempts by people to either kill her or make her collateral damage. In becoming a martial contender by necessity, it'd be easy for her to understand how to make money from their situation while getting Ranma on board. Like that thought she just had with Shampoo being a hair dresser. They could probably make alot more money off of that than the cat cafe, just...no formula 110.

Or extremely limited use. Such as on Genma and Nodoka. Maybe even Tsoun.
For Tsoun, change his memories so that instead of being broken and useless, he's been recovering from his wifes death and preparing to reopen the dojo to students.
For Genma, give him a genuine sense of honor.
For Nodoka, make her forget about that stupid suicide contract.

Regardless, nice battle scenes here. Nice story progress. Only thing I could say I was disappointed about was Ranma didn't thank Shampoo for saving Nabiki.

This does bring up the question of why she didn’t do that in canon unlike Ukyo and Akane both of who Ranma would want to break them out of I don’t think he’d do that for Kodachi.

It could be argued that Ryoga has got the worst luck of the Ranma 1/2 cast. So far he’s got the world’s worst sense of direction, his drowned piglet cursed, was a pet for Azusa, and now has the unwanted affections of Kodachi and ire of Kuno. However, the fact that he blames Ranma for just about everything that’s gone wrong for him makes it somewhat hard for me to feel sorry for him.

Nice to see the Kuno's becoming something more though. maybe that Kuno anti-justice league idea I reviewed last time is really gonna happen?

Also, why doesn't Shampoo join ranma at school? I know she didn't in the original, but she's living with the Saotome's now, and if she's gona let the dads slip off, that'd be a good outlet for her boredom and help with her nipponese as she keeps grousing about.

So glad to see an update and loved every moment of it. I was very iffy about Shampoo but I really like her here and hope things go well for her no matter which direction that may be. Fingers crossed that Nabiki learns to handle dropping from great heights as being with Ranma means more situations like what just occured will happen. Hopefully things get better for you and you are hale and whole.

As much as I enjoy the results of Shampoo's meddling, the way she got there leaves a bad taste in my mouth- not Shampoo doing such things, but Shampoo suddenly being given the power to ALTER memories instead of just erasing them. That's some game-changer right there.

As far as I can tell with some quick research, that doesn't happen in the anime and I know full well it doesn't happen in the manga, and while it might be a theoretical extrapolation of the existing technique it's still some funky canon that's an order of magnitude more difficult and dangerous than simple erase/restore; it's a significant power boost for Shampoo as well as what honestly feels like a cop-out.
Setting aside the practical issues of creating memories you can't see and were never there for via pressure points (it's a nasty strain on suspension of disbelief, but the 1/2 canon does create a lot of leeway), several of my favorite Shampoo stories include altering the cast's perception of reality through ingenious use of controlled memory erasure- cleverly using a preexisting skill rather than just granting her an 'I win!' ability that gets more and more problematic the more you look at the implications.
Imprinting Kodachi on Ryoga is a great one-shot or even running gag, but looking back it really isn't worth opening up this can of worms compared to just making the crazy girl forget about Ranma and set her sights on the nearest equivalent boy worth her time, whether that be temporary or permanent... of for that matter, just having her forget Nabiki.

tl;dr The punchline wasn't worth the problems raised by the setup.

AHHHH I’m so happy a new chapter is out! This is my absolute favorite fic. The absolute insanity of Kodachi’s attack at the school to the messed up kiss by Nabiki are so true to the spirit of the source material that it feels so much more like a real AU than someone’s fanfic. Combine the enjoyable writing with absolutely adorable moments of Nabiki fawning over Ranma that make me squeal with delight and you have this wonderful piece. Please keep working on this series because it’s an absolute delight.

There was quite a bit to this chapter that I have to admit I was looking forward to as far as setting up a different pecking order for the group here. In canon, Kodachi is kind of treated as the black sheep even among the other love interests, since she isn't really much of a threat, despite her skill being on par, if not outright better, than Akane's skills. At least in terms of speed and technique, since Akane sticks to being nothing but strength from the get-go and never really builds on that.

So, having Kodachi and her brother get experience from the most sturdy of Ranma's rivals was an interesting concept and I kind of thought you'd be going down a different road of Kodachi and Ryoga forming an odd friendship / partnership as they set up different plans to take down their "rivals." With Ryoga possibly learning more of the Ninja side of the Kuno family's techniques, since it's implied Kodachi is more attached to them and Sasuke would probably be around Ryoga the most to make sure he didn't get lost in the mansion. Though this was dashed in the end as now it's back to Ryoga running from a love interest that's way too focused on him and I imagine Kodachi would eventually break free of the Shampoo technique. Stubborn as she is, I'm not actually sure Ryoga is her type.

Regardless, the outcome with Shampoo's, well, shampoo wasn't completely a let down, but the overall plan they had definitely was. Throwing bombs at Nabiki, especially with her brother right there, felt a little too on the nose even for Kodachi, y'know? There was hardly any real plan there and honestly, had something happened to Nabiki, I'm not sure this Ranma would have kept himself from hitting a girl as hard as he can.

That part aside, I'm also confused at why there was even the scene with Ryoga being taken to school as a pig, if it seemed like they never went to her school in the first place? I kind of figured you'd have a scene with her talking to him in his pig form as they set up the plan, but it sort of just jumped directly to them bombing the school. I also wondered if you'd set up a /different/ kind of love triangle... which I guess might still be on the table. Not sure if it's ever mentioned, but it'd be amusing if Azusa went to Kodachi's school. She'd have recognized the little pig.

Either way! Don't take anything I said as a real negative, just a sign that we think of things a bit differently here and there. Outside of the rushing of the "plan", it was still an interesting chapter to read. Shampoo being caught flat-footed was definitely a highlight, as now Nabiki has officially kissed both of them and made their brains explode. She's still the boss. But I'm eager to see what happens next, especially when Cologne shows up.
