Reviews for Redcoats and Rebels
atomicsub927 chapter 21 . 6/16
It feels terrible reading a story where your home is the bad guys. Even if I don't necessarily agree with the way the British are so often presented in foreign history books. Though I suppose that's what you get for beating the entire world at warfare and slogging on each of them ay least once. Fantastic story.
Blackberry Avar chapter 21 . 5/18
Hullo. What happened here?
CajunBear73 chapter 21 . 5/17
Something tells me...that Arnold's interruption is to be treated with suspicion...for various reasons.

A Colonial Spy exposed to the British, it appears, but for reasons yet explained or assumed, naming Astrid directly would have ruined many plans within plans...

Hope explanations are forthcoming...But it now seems that Astrid may be sacrificed or executed...

For the War Effort. Or for Arnold's protection.

Could Astrid also have been the one who is giving Hiccup information?
CajunBear73 chapter 20 . 5/13
Desperate measures in desperate times...and time is running out...

But for whom? Haddock, Arnold or Washington?

CajunBear73 chapter 19 . 5/9
Quite the pissing contest this was, and facts expanded in this fiction, it lends credence to Arnold's defection in the coming months of this war...Still, command structure and demeanor as it was inherited from their British forebears, cracks that eventually are part of modern US Military custom start to show through in this 'differences of opinion'...

Interrupted by word of an incursion from a well known thorn in their sides, Washington, again, shows he is much more aware of the bigger picture than Arnold...which helps Arnold put together a vital, chilling response to what this means...

But I wonder if the accuser has thrown off the scent from the eventual spy...

Thanks for updating
CajunBear73 chapter 18 . 12/16/2019
What the Major came to know, some time back, was verified in his 'last mission'...

The vetting process ended, Major Haddock and Astrid Hofferson seem to be about to call a halt to an inquisition that would have ended in her death.

Something the Major probably would have torn down the Crown to prevent...

I wonder how they will progress together after this episode of life moves on. I may be wrong, but I get the impression that there's something in the works with Astrid's status being declared as this is...which will be revealed in due time.

QueenAstridHaddock chapter 17 . 10/6/2019
You know, I wonder if the story of Major Henry Haddock is based on John Andre’s. If it is I hope he’ll not face the same destiny.

Nice Chapter!
CajunBear73 chapter 17 . 10/1/2019
Quite the successful guerrilla raid inflicted on this Troop. Something the British never countered, mostly because it wasn't according to the rules of war as they were in this day and age...More's the pity for them that they refused to evolve their form of warfare where those rules started to erode in the face of asymmetrical warfare.

Something that didn't fully end until WWII. For most combatants.

In the end of this raid, it appears their target was taken out. Not sure of that...yet.

Been a long time, Hawk. Glad to see you again.

OH RIGHT THE REVIEW PROBLEM. Let's see if this gets through.

I was actually scared that this was Major Haddock for a second, but then I remembered the plot armor. The larger question is: How do they know it's Henry?
stan loona ot12 chapter 16 . 7/4/2019
Ah yes, I'm a big sucker for the romeo and juliet trope and type, and mix it with history? A big fat YES!
CajunBear73 chapter 16 . 6/21/2019
The weight of what Astrid's intelligence bore out in the previous week weighs heavily on her and her lover, Hiccup...

Astrid still battles with the guilt of so much in the worlds she is a part of, with her being between those of Great Britain's rule and the Colonists who fight to break away from it. With her, but separate at the same time, is a key member of the forces who can bring them all down.

Hiccup has the weight of command always pressing down on him, with the results of what happened on his watch, in his literal grasp, that destroyed much in the attack still being felt and seen. That higher command may seek retribution for such failure is yet to be meted out. But that's for when the Major meets with General Clinton, shortly.

From previous chapters, it appears Hiccup is fully aware of Astrid's true identity, but may fall on his sword to protect her as he stands for what's to come in light of how dangerously dedicated the Colonists are to their cause. Guerrilla warfare in urban terrain is quite ugly when most of those involved are not combatants...

And, far away, spies are continuously sending their intel to destinations for future actions. Still a dangerous world they live in...Death the most obvious end, if caught.

A war is about to expand beyond the grasp of those holding their subjects, while two key participants may have moments that either tear them apart or drive them forever together.

Dangerous that is, also.

I wanted to thank you guys for your patience. College has been taking up a lot off my time and I caught a travel bug coming off of my flight. In between sickness induced delirium and stress my writing has been given a lower priority. I haven't given up on the story, I'm still writing. Thank you, and I'll see you in the next one.
