Loving this story, and am very curious to see Sarah and Chuck work their way back to each other. I love your choice to show the stress that Chuck's under, I think that's a very interesting and realistic take on how he's dealing with everything that's happened and is happening to him. Really hoping to see updates soon!

One of my most favorite AU stories is a long time. Thank you for writing!

This feels like a story written by a friend zoned guy friend and his fantasy coming to life.
He’s considered “chivalrous” for holding a door open. Does all the guy friend stuff. The girl is in love with him for it, and though has offers from more popular guys, deep inside, she rejects them all for not messuring up to the guy friend.
Because she’s gone so long without doing the work for him and asking him out, she’s shamed and made to feel inferior.
This is a pretty common fantasy guy friends have to counter the imbalance of their preceived worth. He has to shame her in the fantasy to build his own worth to be superior.
He pushes her away as she “realizes” her guilt, and it’s all “righteous” emotion he feels that does it.

And I’m glad Sarah has taken the step into physical affection. Curious to see where that leads in Chuck’s overwhelmed mind.

Really like the way the story is written, I really feel the agony of the scene. I must admit, I don’t really get Chuck’s actions here. He loves her, he is forgiving by nature, she is offering everything he’s ever wanted.

It’s possible that I’m confusing not getting it with not liking it, but as you can tell, you’ve provoked a strong emotional response from me so you’re doing something right.

An enjoyable chapter. Understandable why Chuck may still be a little wary. Update when you can, no rush.

The story is moving well and Chuck's anxiety is understandable. Not sure he is not deluding him self a bit when he "realised that she was never entirely absent". After she decides not to keep her promise, without explanation, and then completely stops responding to his attempts at contact it feels like she is entirely absent. After all Sarah herself decided she was OK being absent, maybe never to see him again.
Don't stress about update schedules, we all understand that life has to be lived:-)

Just binge-read the whole thing, up to Ch 13. I find it intelligently conceived and executed, and the characters believable in the AU you've created. I'm selfishly hoping there's lots more to come, within the strictures of your move and new work situation. Thanks for this!

Roark definitely comes over as menacing in your chapter. And having Shaw in his employ makes absolutes sense.
