What the hell is this...The only power that the Doom Slayer needs, and the most important is "Badass Incarnate". If he wants you to die, then you die. The fact that Freed escaped because of your inability to derail from canon is just annoying.

Oh this is gonna be good! Great prologue. The beginning really gave me some good old Doom vibe. I have high expectations for this.

For some reason, I can imagine Vali who fights with the Doom Slayer getting his wings torn out in a brutal fashion. It may possibly scar Vali and Albion in both mind and body. Hopefully that's enough to deter him. If not, well, Azazel may get his hands full in trying to stop Vali.
