Reviews for A New Generation of Wei
emoryjmorrill chapter 8 . 7/17
It’s good
Warforge Master chapter 8 . 3/12
So Guo You is finally moving out to war, and finishing off the illustrious Yuan family to boot. Let's also not forget the sparking of young love. I can only wonder how the bonds between Guo You and Xin Xianying will develop in the times of chaos and the collapse of the Han Empire, especially since this is where history takes a new path compared to the 'canon' we know of from the games. I will say though, that having their first meeting near a battlefield with both smuggling themselves just to get close to the action really brought amusement to my soul.

I won't keep you any longer. I shall see you in the next installment with Guo You's debut to the battlefield.
Warforge Master chapter 7 . 3/12
Like father like son. Guo You really seems to also follow in Lord Cao Cao's footsteps by, unintentionally, gathering a trusted cadre of future officers for when he finally takes to the battlefield. Granted, these trusted future officers are the children of current officers of Lord Cao Cao, making it easy for inevitable meetings, but the spirit of a group coming together to face the chaos still emanates strongly.

As for Guo Jia and his affair, all I can really say is that such love can be bittersweet in my personal opinion given the circumstances. Pure love in a relationship is tantalizing, but the hints of betrayal mixed in really sours the sweetness. Now enough of the poetic drama! I shall now be reading and reviewing the next chapter which is already posted.
Warforge Master chapter 6 . 12/18/2019
The first meeting of the next generation of military officers, especially Wei's New Generals, in their childhood truly sets the epic foreshadowing of these future war heroes in a land of chaos. Once again, saving my detailed reviews for when Guo You and company finally take to the battlefield. I'll confess that I am a little uncomfortable with how you structured the sentences in this chapter. There are some misspelled words, incorrect punctuation, and slight grammar issues, but I still am able to read and get the gist of what was going on. Spelling and grammar aside, it's still a decent chapter overall for what I essentially see as the prologue to a turning point in the Dynasty Warriors lore as we know it, and I am assuredly excited for when that time comes.
Warforge Master chapter 5 . 4/27/2019
Guo Jia's first successful campaign is sure to set a good first impression to Cao Cao, though I can only imagine the expectations Guo You will have to meet when he comes of age due to being Guo Jia's son. Again, I don't really have much else to say since our main character hasn't taken center stage yet, but I'm waiting in anticipation for Guo You's formal introduction into the chaos of the warring warlords and the coming 'meat' of the story.

As for your decision regarding the direction you are taking the stories from now on, I have no objections to your plan of turning the entire focus of the story around your main characters for both Warriors stories. I guess you can consider the initial campaign as a sort of 'tutorial' and origin setting before shifting focus towards the setting of the main story if you want to put it into a gamer's perspective. I feel this will keep the story at a steady pace like you said, so again, you will have no objections from me as long as we can still see how the main characters' presence can affect the course of 'canon' history as well as the people around them.

Love this story

I’m actually glad I found your Dynasty Warriors fanfic which lead me to reading your IS story and your Samurai Warriors story
Warforge Master chapter 4 . 4/15/2019
The Wei forces should count themselves fortunate for not having to fight Lu bu face to face. Cut away enough of the body and the head will have to cut their losses no matter how powerful they are in single combat, which Chen Gong understood since he had the courage to tell Lu bu, of all people, to retreat from a battle. I can't wait for when Guo You finally takes to the battlefield when his time comes.

As for your offer to me, Author of Mystery, let me first say that I am flattered that you think so highly of me so far, but I regret to inform you that I am not planning on making a FanFiction profile anytime in the near future, if at all. Only reason I had such knowledge so far is because I am VERY familiar with the storyline of both the Dynasty and Samurai Warriors games thanks to YouTube walkthroughs, and in the case of Samurai Warriors, I used to take Japanese cultural classes in college as an elective and took an interest in Japanese related topics afterwards, including watching a brief history series of the Sengoku Jidai through a YouTube channel called Extra Credits. Any other sources of information regarding the Han and Sengoku periods was through online browsing.

Lastly, on the topic of POV chapters for Guo You's perspective, I have absolutely no idea on when to present Guo You's life before his rise to glory. I have only ever been good with reviewing content that has already been published, not before when they are still in the drafting phase so I can't help you here. Sorry.

Anyways, see you next chapter for either Dynasty or Samurai Warriors.
Warforge Master chapter 3 . 3/23/2019
A good start to the Xu Province battle, but I wonder how Yan Province is faring with Lu Bu rampaging about the place. Well, it's up to you whether to focus on one battle or alternate between different battlefields. As for Liu Bei, we all know that things get interesting when he shows up to battle, and let me also say that your approach to portraying this battle is not bad. There is room for improvement in my opinion, but not bad regardless. I just can't wait for when Guo You finally takes to the battlefield, as THAT will be when the story truly kicks off, in my eyes anyway.

That's all I have for this chapter. Keep up the good work, but I do have one thing to ask about your profile page... again. Firstly, I'm sorry if me constantly asking about your profile annoys you, and I am willing to stop should you desire that of me. Secondly, I was skimming through the profiles of Guo You's children, and I noticed that your name for Guo You's 3rd daughter, Dong Bai's daughter specifically, is named GUAN Yinping. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there already a Guan Yinping being the daughter of Guan Yu? If there isn't a typo, then I can only imagine the hilarious confusion if these two Guan Yinpings were to face each other on the battlefield. Can you just imagine what would happen if a messenger from either side were to yell for Guan Yinping and BOTH of them would answer back, or if a soldier were to report about the enemy Guan Yinping's movements but others confuse it for their allied Guan Yinping? I actually got a chuckle just thinking about it. Of course, that's just if you didn't make a typo mistake. If not, then I hope you can fix or clarify that when you have the time. That's all I have for now, so see you next time.
Warforge Master chapter 2 . 1/10/2019
A good setup to the battle of Xu Province with the officers and the events leading up to it. Also, good job on expressing Guo Jia's strategic mindset, and I'm sure he will perform spectacularly in the conquest of Xu Province. Since there is still no major events or battles raging yet, I'll hold off any lengthy reviews until we get to the 'meat' of the story, but I will say that I am excited for how you will portray said 'meat' in future updates.

Just take your time with these chapters as I prefer quality over quantity, and don't let others nagging for more chapters bother you. If they can't wait, then that is their problem.

How's the next chapter going.
Seraphius chapter 1 . 12/7/2018
As a fan of Dynasty Warriors, I am pleased to say that I am loving the direction where this is going. Guo You will have quite the road ahead of him. Rising in the Wei ranks is like climbing Mount Everest and he need to have both the patience and guile to both survive and prosper in this chaotic era.

Wonder how he will fare against other intellectuals like Zhou Yu, Lu Xun, Sima Yi, and Zhuge Liang...

Good luck!
Warforge Master chapter 1 . 11/27/2018
As they say, this is the calm before the storm. From what I remember from the game, Guo Jia was quite the Casanova, charming the pretty women left and right no matter who they are. I suppose it speaks volumes that a single woman managed to get Guo Jia to settle down with her and having a family, unless there is some detail that I missed.

Anyways, there is not much else to comment about except that it's a good start to Guo You's introduction and the rise of the next generation of Wei officers. I'll have to see how you will portray the coming battle of Xu Province to see how much potential this story has over other Dynasty Warriors stories I have read. I also eagerly await the winds of change Guo You's presence will bring in the land of chaos that is China once he starts operating on the battlefield.
