I liked your brotherly dynamic here. I kept looking for Mary just like the boys did (heartbreaking, btw) but I really expected that Jody would turn up by the end. She responded just like a mother would. Mary doesn’t realize what she’s given up.

Wonderful story, and a delightful holiday treat! Loved them both coming to the realization that they each had what they REALLY needed the most - each other. And you so beautifully captured the characters in the way I would imagine they would be acting and reacting under the circumstances - worry, frustration, aggravation with each other, impatience, but also understanding and under it all love. And yay, for Dean managing to pull off a surprise Thanksgiving that they both so, so needed. Still managing to take care of his little bro, even while recovering himself!

Aw, now this was just wonderful! I've been trying since yesterday to read it but with everyone wanting me to go shopping and do stuff I had to wait until today. This was so nice to read, I love Sam and Dean having their own little Thanksgiving together and coming to the conclusion that they just need each other. It was perfect, just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. I am so glad you didn't have Mary show up at the last minute. No, they don't need her and I think by now everyone is over her. I just love Dean being upset at their mom for Sam and not himself and it also breaks my heart. I'm glad they got a decent Thanksgiving dinner even if it would have been better if Dean had cooked in the bunker. Maybe for Christmas... hint hint.

I'm from the Detroit area too! Well, close to it. I am drooling over that food. I had to work Thanksgiving, so we are having ours on the weekend. Maybe.

I'm thankful this Thanksgiving for this lovely story. It had pretty much everything I want in a SPN story: owies, brotherly love...pie. Thank you for giving the boys a nice Thanksgiving after all (and thank you for not going schmaltzy and having Mary show up at the last minute-like Dean, I'm pretty much over her and her lack of concern for her boys). Sorry about the Lions...my hometown team is the Browns, so I feel your pain. Happy Thanksgiving!

This was absolutely delightful! Even though I'm a hurt Sam girl, I do love the tables being turned every now and then so that Sam gets to be the awesome caretaker. Brilliant the way Thanksgiving worked out for them and I'm so glad Mary didn't show up to spend it with them. Not much a Mary fan. I love that both guys realized and vocalized that they really only need each other.
