Taking twenty when Snape wanted to take two hundred is ridiculous.

On the other hand, it fits McGonagalls pureblood bias, or Death Eater bias. Taking fifty apiece from Harry, Hermione and Neville for being out of bounds, and twenty from Malfoy for being out of bounds, is about the best hint in the first book of what her leaning may be. Completely ignoring that all three Gryffindors, who she should protect, had exclusively the benevolent intention of helping someone out of big shit (two of them even saved a staff member from landing in Azkaban - again), and the loathsome Slytherin, who had a history of insulting and baiting by then, had exclusively the malevolent intention of getting others into trouble.

I can't understand how anyone can see McGonagall as better replacement or capable successor for Dumbledore.

That was a great story the toad and Dumbledore got what each deserved.

What a great story! EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER got exactly what he or she deserved, something that rarely happens in Harry's world.

I'm very curious to know why the kittens had been imprisoned in the plates. Were they really kittens, or had they originally been humans or some other creatures? At least, it sounds as though they have happy lives now.

I like Lavender's discovery of what it takes to "prep" a hard-headed idiot for a makeover. Just keep a beater's bat handy, if there aren't any beaters, bludgers, or stairs to do the job. Once the head is nice and soft, the makeover can begin. Hmmmm. I wonder ... maybe she could take on Draco and his two sidekicks. Their heads are probably extra hard and would require a lot more softening before the makeovers could begin. Do you suppose she could take on Fudge? What about ... Snape? Just asking.
