darthstormer chapter 15 . 11/9/2019 Wonderfully sweet and you can't help but love El's innocence when the kissing got too intense. And now we have a date coming up, I can't wait! And I love Hopper's admission that, just maybe, Mike isn't all bad. |

darthstormer chapter 14 . 7/25/2019 What a sweet chapter. I loved their little heart to heart talk after Mike resuced her from the living room. And it feels really good to roll back the clock to times when everything was still happy. Excited to find out what AU directions you take this. |
noDownSide chapter 14 . 7/24/2019 I hadn't thought of it until I read this chapter but you definitely were prescient about the growly 'dad Hopper' persona and it fits really well with your story going forward. Please, please, please, PLEASE do not make Mike as much of a generic teenage boy and Max as oblivious to the difference between her and Lucas / El and Mike. I think there's a story where Mike messes up and the girls' "bromance" grows that lets Mike learn QUICKLY and doesn't make Max casually heartless which is one of my major peeves about ST3... |
TorontoBatFan chapter 14 . 7/24/2019 Nice to see you've updated. It was funny how Hopper was afraid of El to a point where he didn't want to get out of bed. I think "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" might have been considered a lot scarier back in the 80's. "A Nightmare on Elm Street" was released on VHS in January of 1985, but I don't think Hopper would have been in possession of it. Back then VHS movies -to buy- cost something like $75-$100. It's not like now where they had bargain bins for $5. (I'm guessing that even Mike's copies of "Star Wars" was either bootlegged off of a video store rental or recorded from the previous year's television premiere.) Imagine if they'd shown El "The Evil Dead" which is set in an isolated cabin...Just like hers? Ohhh, a great one would've been "An American Werewolf in London" (that and "Fright Night" -and maybe "The Lost Boys"- are my favourite 80's horror movies). Of course, they NEED to get El to watch "Jaws" at some point -one of the greatest films EVER. A nice epilogue might've been Hopper -after El has gone to bed- settling in to watch ANOES...and he ends up getting scared by it. LOL I liked how Mike was able to convey how scared HE was, not know if El was alive or dead for almost a year and compared it the movie they'd just seen. I get the idea that watching El disappear makes the made-up effects of a movie a lot less scary. I got the idea that Max didn't seem to keen on a lot of the activities they had planned (until they got to the R-rated films). She seemed to have a casually dismissive attitude towards stuff. Is that a sign of trouble between her and Lucas? Looking forward to the next chapter. :-D |
