Yes! This is great! Al dealing with his insecurity, being bulldozed into a job he disagrees with both emotionally and on principle, but doing it anyway for the greater good and for his friends, his homesickness... Its all wonderfully written. I really felt for him, and was so proud of him when Ling gives him the reverence he deserves! Your research into Chinese traditions and culture objects really paid offthose details made the world of aristocratic Xing come alive! Kudos and 3!

It's always a pleasure to read your work. I am not too familiar with Chinese culture, either, but I appreciated all the little details you put into it. What stroke me the most, though, was Alphonse's introspection. You did amazing!
