Bad guess. Summary had first thought: timeline was going to be a post freeing Dobby with movie version having Lucy nearly casting AK at Harry.

Not bad. I've often pondered the possibilites of pre dead sister Ariana shock Dumbledore (him REALLY REALLY changing THAT MUCH. (Him and Gellert's for "the greater good", conquer and rule.) I've often thought of possible Dumbledore character builds where he didn't fully (or much less than fully) change his "dark spots". Whether a false light wizard persona build, or a ready to flip "switch" (kind of similar to yours, but you added more complexity("addiction to power" trope addition) ).

Pretty awesome I think. My feelings for Dumbledore's actions are at best fluctuating. I'd never be able to hate him because I love him too much but I did find some of his actions in canon very controlling and wrong because they ended in loss and pain mainly for Harry - and Harry is my favorite character. But I LOVE this action-taking version of Dumbledore and the fact that you wrote about his dilemma while many stories I've come across have simply taken the man at word and hated on him is very awesome indeed.

Whoa! one scary old dude, it would explain a lot about tom and dumbles interactions... it also explains why everybody's wary of him.
