Haha yeah skinning and gutting squirrels can get pretty messy. Their hides don't come off easily. Takes a while too if there's a good amount. I come from a family of outdoorsmen and I married a redneck so I chuckled when I read your last bit. Loved the story! I think you captured the characters pretty well. Keep up the good work.

Ah, I miss Beth too! I lost all interest in the show after Beth and Glenn died tbh, so its always nice to have fanfic instead. I could really see Beth wanting to get stronger for the sake of the kids, she really cares about them!

Characters all seem to be true to themselves, which is a really good thing considering how many times I witnessed OOC-ness in too many fics these last days...
It's always funny by the way to notice how -despite her younger age- Beth seems to somehow be wiser than Daryl lol I mean, in terms of feelings and living with people. I heard in some interview that while Daryl was bringing strength and toughness out from Beth, she, too, was bringing something out of him: good. It's what I think too and what I felt while reading what you wrote. For that, thank you.

So far this is a good story. It makes sense and I like that you bring the kids into it. Daryl was the one who kept looking for Sophia and its good that you show that side of him.

I was really happy that you didn't actually have Daryl explain how to gut a squirrel. I think it flows better without putting that technical knowledge in...I think it would've broken up the emotional parts of the scene. I loved having Daryl see that other side of Beth. Maybe it will help him see her as more of an adult since he has seen her in a mother role now. One of the things I loved about Beth's character on the show was that she portrayed that quiet, emotional and mental strength and toughness instead of the physical strength aspect that most people think of when they think of someone being strong.
