PrinRue chapter 1 . 3/20/2019 Beautifully written! Very realistic insight (I felt the pain, geez) and an adorable ending :) |
hiccuptheuseful chapter 1 . 3/3/2019 ooh, this was so so so good! Such a harsh look at the reality of losing a physical part of oneself, and you pulled it off beautifully. Thank you for the great read! |
Smoe05 chapter 1 . 9/22/2018 A solid dose of refreshing cynicism. If ever the world snarls in your face with the almost certain prospect of utterly unimaginable pain, just shrug a say ‘she’ll be right mate.’ The satire involved with this piece is heavy and delicious like others have said before. Tis very well written. In using first person perspective like an internal monologue, it supports the snappy, near colloquial dialogue that then translates to reading it as if we are listening to Hiccup directly. Nicely done :D |
Plasma Snow chapter 1 . 8/24/2018 I know this is late, but it's amazing! I love the detail, and the way it's worded. I also love these particular kind of Hiccup fanfics. Great read for a Friday night. You're amazing! |
imagination-running chapter 1 . 8/21/2018 I think it's great and one of the best and most realistic stump issues stories on this site. Thanks for sharing the story with us. I hope your hip pain eases up some, too. |
SweetWritingIsMyLife chapter 1 . 8/21/2018 Yes! That was amazing! |
AnaWinchester-Universe67 chapter 1 . 8/20/2018 I really enjoy stories like this, and this one was really well written. Great job! |
PutMoneyInThyPurse chapter 1 . 8/20/2018 Okay so... You effectively crushed and mangled my heart and then stomped on the pieces. The wry, bitter inner tone you have is something I could absolutely see Hiccup using, the comparisons and the way he talks to Astrid (and thank you for not turning it into romance!) And I actually gasped out loud when your Hiccup dislocates his shoulder. The moment at the end when he sits in the... Oh, shudder, the blisters. Ungh. And gobber being better at hiding it and unfffffffffff. -When he sits high up - symbolically rising above it finally - and Toothless joining him - OH GOD I ADORED THE LINE "THE CLOSEST PATCH OF DRAGON" Love! Love! Love! Love! Love! YES! and takes Toothless' prosthetic off, just that reminder - and OH GOD DREAMING OF THE PROSTHETIC COMING OFF AND BURNING AND FALLING ASLEEP IN TOOTHLESS' WINGS - and just I wish FFN still let you copy-paste text but this is AMAZING and YOU ROCK. For the record, I hope you get so much better and I hope it becomes a thing of the past and I'm sorry to offer unsolicited advice, I'm sure you and Hiccup both get tons of it, but have you heard that stem-cell therapy from your own body fat is now a thing and it helps regenerate bits and pieces? So just in case. And... Thank you for writing and posting this, even if you have made me terminally jealous and I hate you and will never ever write for this fandom again becuase you are JUST THAT GOOD. |
nope not your father chapter 1 . 8/20/2018 This is beautifully written and honestly heartbreaking, but it just adds to the realism (in a fanfic about a movie with dragons, I'm so great at finding the correct words). Hopefully things get better, and thank you for this! |
Linguam chapter 1 . 8/20/2018 I hardly remember this movie (movie*s*? There was a second one, wasn't there? Idk), but I didn't have to remember it because you managed to portray Hiccup's struggles in a way that was still highly relatable; even though I've never experienced chronic, physical pain, pain is still pain, to some extent, and that's something every living human being is familiar with. Your writing is amazing as usual, a perfect portrayal of someone using humor to deal with the ups and downs of serious, life-changing events where you're not in control of the outcome. So achingly bittersweet. So sorry you're having a bad day, honey *hugs* But also: take care of yourself and take it slow, you idiot. |
