Yeah man. Covid-19 got all of us fucked up. I had to drop my physics course because online physics is literally impossible to follow, especially for my dumbass... Anyways, you have a good story here in the making! I can see some inspiration from various fics when it comes to Ash asking to be teached by his mom and Oak. That said, the reason why I find this story better than those other fics is because of the chemistry you are building between Ash and his Pokémon. In other fics that revolve around Ash returning home and training his 'mons before traveling, they go along the lines of "Sup guys. So I'm thinking we should train up, beginning now. Let's start running lol." instead of some necessary bonding and development that should be in the beginning. Which you thankfully have built up, with accurate representation of the characters :). I really like the way the reunion with pidgeot. Actually, it's probably the best iteration of any that I read! I like how Ash went straight to the point and hugged Pidgeot the moment he saw her. No "Hey Pidgeot, long time no see lol". Straight feels and fluff, just the way it's meant to be (;~;)... Also, I hope you still keep Ash's overjoyed reaction when catching new pokémon. Sure, it's childish, especially since he's a teenager with a lot of experience. But it's his thing, along with the badge pose! It just screams Ash Ketchum, so it would feel weird if he just stopped doing it :(.

Rota is quite close to Kanto. Would be nice to go visit it to find a solution for Riolu. Wouldn't be surprised if there are Lucario's living there like in the Lucario Kingdom.

Would be nice to see Cynthia introduced near the start of the adventures in Sinnoh. But Cynthia is a champion and you should think about how you are going to make her notice Ash. Because for all intents and purposes Ash is at this point an unrefined gem, he has potential but still nowhere near elite-four level territory. The instances where Ash has saved the world are usually handled by the region champions and they are often classified or very little people know of his involvement. Probably could be written in a scene where the champions all meet and they discuss him on an offhand remark, which sparks Cynthia's interest.

I hope you don't force Tobias into some bad villain who abuses legendaries or something. I really don't think legendaries would be a part of his team and fight as hard as they did in his battles against Ash in the Sinnoh Semi-finals(?) if he was some villain. And mind-controlling devices that force them to do his bidding is so cheesy it's not even enjoyable. I feel that he could be a better version of Paul. One who loves his pokemon and treats them right, but also feels that certain pokemon are superior in strength to others. He probably hadn't experienced normal pokemon being able to reach the same pinnacles of power that a legendary or pseudo-legendary has and battle them on an even footing. Ash could probably change that.

Instead, it would be nicer if you focused more on Team Galactic as the main villain. It would make for a good arc for Cynthia to be more involved with Ash, and not just as a tagalong travelling partner. Could start of as interest, she finds out more and watches some of his battles. Finds that he has potential. Trains him on certain occasions. Bonds with him over the Team Galactic situation. And goes on... More of a long-distance relationship kind of thing, meeting up every so often in cities across Sinnoh till the conference? (Similar to Legend if you think about it) If you added a one-sided affection from Dawn as she travels with Ash and comes to terms with her feelings and crush, it would serve as another dynamic.

I do hope you think of making combos and using the terrain to fight etc. like all those other great pokemon fics out there. It would be such a shame to see the usual point and shoot attacks with no variation. Even sadder would be button-mashing the same attack over and over. (Unless it's like a part of a fighting style, i.e. close combat with elemental punches).

Why was there such a drop in quality here? I couldn't even finish reading the chapter. This is such a downgrade from the previous chapters in this story.

I've been waiting for you to update, can't wait to read more of this story again. Your story was actually a bit of inspiration for the one I've been writing lately.

Some awkward English here and there. Having a Beta Reader would definitely be helpful. Really looking forward to the story progressing more. Sometimes it feels like some sections don't have much effort put into them as the scene description and writing itself feels lacking and rather barebones.

It's been more than half a year since the last update, but hope that you continue writing.
