Finally you updated, I thought you completely forgot about this one.

I'm glad this got another update. It took me a minute to realize that Issei wanted the Jewel for his own mother. It seem that "Johann" isn't a very good person. The dark humor he finds in having his hopes crushed makes me think back to my initial comparison to Furuta.

This is a really intricate background plot story and I love it!

I feel like Pitou wasn't telling the whole story about that incident. You said this Issei was modeled after Gon, so I guess you're going to write the 'shonen protagonist' archetype realistically. Which means Issei is going to be a violent sociopath, but his heart will be in the right place.

I can see Rias and Issei's relationship somewhat mirroring Gon and Killua's dynamic. She sees him as a sort of 'ideal' person, but she'll have to realize that he also has flaws. This can only end up poorly. Gon and Killua's relationship was toxic enough without teenage romance in the mix.

Oh, I ended up writing more than I expected. I just love the story(and HxH).

I think you did Rias pretty well. She is pretty childish at her core so it wouldn't be unbelievable that she is easily flustered and vulnerable to ideas is love and partnership. As referenced many times in Canon and depictions of her around the web.

The way that Mephisto Sr carries himself and acts is what I'm going to base most of this off of. Obviously, he is a character that cannot be currently defined backed by any evidence and possibly never can be for the duration of this story, but it wouldn't be too difficult to write a character sheet despite the numerous blanks, black lines and ?.

My thoughts about the Mephisto household is that there is an obvious division and this could have stemmed from many reasons, a few I could think of are, Mephisto Sr encouraged independence and some form of it was found in the dynamic they share now (this is not limited to the living conditions or the social aspect between father and son), or perhaps Ise decided this on his own and Mephisto Sr let it be (for his own reasons, or even no reason at all because he is Mephisto), another possibility would be an inexcusable or unforgivable action(s) or statement(s) made by his father that ruined Ise's respect for him, Ise's desire to live in a (outdated) Japanese styled home (for reasons such as, his personal interest of otaku wish fulfillment, or for the sake of someone else), he wishes to display his contrast to his father's tastes... or just because he can, we're talking about the son of Mephisto here. Ya know, the one who shares some similarities with the one in Blue Exorcist and prominently bears the "I have no fucking clue what you're on about" vibe going on. You can never be too sure either.

About Ise, normally I would wait for enough evidence to make a statement that is even remotely correct or understandable, but ill just skip it. Based off of the genre of this story and how he isn't the "main character", so to speak. He is kind of like the Natsu Dragneel to Rias' Lucy Heartfilia right now. I can't imagine him drastically changing, from the core throughout this story. It would be odd to change the answer to the mystery right when the investigation has just begun (now that I think about it, it may not be so surprising if this is what happens). The story and all the clues built up would become irrelevant and equivalent to a slap to the readers face, wouldn't it? Anyway, what I think of him so far is as follows: what little we know of him as a child is old news and only serves as a base of what he is now, what caused his mother to be as she is now disturbed him, and possibly caused him to feel resentment towards his father when he "seemingly" never visited his wife (I can't imagine Mephisto Sr just ignoring what he shared with that woman unless it was a ruse all along), the turning point for Ise was seeing her helpless state at that moment, he found police in Shonen manga and anime because he feels he can relate to it in many aspects, he upholds many of the ideals he has seen because he convinced himself that's how he is and what he was meant to be. However, he neglected to appeal to his own conscious and as a result developed another side to himself hence, the duality mentioned in the title. That part, I added in with a dose of cringe, but I said it. It is all farfetched (obviously), but that's what I got so far. I am confident that I left out some stuff, but I can't really recall any of it at the moment.

I got nothing, for what happened to his mother. I can't say that this is all the cause of a mental affliction. Unless this is the cause of Mephisto Sr himself, who used this as the method to keep him in line- CONSPIRACY THEORY!

I'm still thinking about the napkin though, haha. I'm was thinking that "V-Chan" was the one to respond back to Akeno in the form of it. And Rias got all "flashu-backu"y because of it.

I am reading this and I noticed something. Does ise has a problem with his father? I am on the part where he gets smacked by the paper fan. Is ise romantically involved with any of his female servants?
