Thank you for writing this. Along about Chapter 50 I started to wonder why in bloody hell a good author would drag us through so many chapters about that woman, but I couldn't stop reading. The last few chapters brought a closure to Martin Ellingham's life and struggles. I also learned a lot. It was a relief to get it over with! Loved it, and look forward to your next work.

This has been a favorite story of mine almost since the very beginning. I so enjoyed your insights into Margaret’s thought process. I have to admit that a teeny part of me almost liked her despicable self. It was fun to see just how completely self centered and conniving one woman could be. Of course, any liking of her flew out the window when you reminded us of just how cruel and nasty she consistently was to Martin - our hero. I was thrilled that you concluded with a chapter of Margaret’s final thoughts. I was happy to get a last interesting glimpse of her inner workings. The ending was so fitting too - so clever but not over done. Thanks again for all your hard work in sharing these wonderful stories with us. I was always looking forward to a new chapter and am sad that this one has to end. I hope you will consider writing a new one!

A unique view into Margaret's mind as she lay dying. True to form to the bitter end. Never able to see her child as her one great contribution to the circle of life. I find it strange that she had such positive feelings toward Martin's children. The last paragraph is especially intriguing; she is not going to the white light but for the red, hot light. Is there an allegory here? I will miss reading this story immensely, you do not disappoint. Thank you for all your efforts and time writing this story.

Oh, what a brilliant ending! When I read the first few words of this epilogue and realized we would be privy to Margaret's thoughts one last time, I knew there would be an excellent ending to a great piece of story writing. I appreciated that Margaret was Margaret until the very end and had no regrets for how she had lived her life - no unrealistic redemption at the end.

Hmm...I wonder what that increasing heat at the end signifies? Will it progress to being uncomfortably hot? Thank you so much for this story.

I have enjoyed your stories ,Just a Glimpse and The Women In His Life ,so very much. I am really sad to see them come to and end , but I will hope that you will continue to write great Doc Martin stories. Thank you for your dedication.

What a sad conclusion to Margaret's' life,even at the end she could not realize how special her son was. Martin was the only good thing that she succeeded with, thank you for not making us feel sorry for her at the end. Love your wonderful stories and hope for something new in the near future. Even nearing death, she proved she was an awful person and mother. What a relief for Martin that she is gone. Excellent ending.

Margaret seems to get what she deserves. Even on her deathbed she can’t see what a wonderful man her son is and how he is cherished by his loving wife and kids. She could never see that the only good thing to come out of both of she and Christopher’s
greedy and shallow lives was Martin. I wondered at the beginning if we would come to have pity for Margaret but she continued to be her hateful and detestable self to the very end. Love the way that Martin and Louisa have grown. Just a Glimpse has always been one of my favorites. Look forward to future writings from you

Finally up to writing this review. It was a powerful chapter. I too believe that hearing is the last to go so I believe she heard both James's words and Martin's. Martins words about the relationship with her was spot on, I am glad he was able to speak them to her before she passed. Closed out the account so to speak. James was so sweet and meaningful too. The analysis of "the women in his life" in Martin speech was my favorite paragraph since it accentuates the title of the piece. Thank you for this excellent chapter in this excellent story.

Your writing is amazing. The part where James tells Margaret that Martin is the best dad ever and Martin talking to his mother is so real. Because they say the hearing is the last thing to go so it’s not hard to imagine she heard it. If that makes sense.
