J.K Rowling didn't said this. She said Ron and Hermione would need some help... As all of them would, Harry the most. We saw in the cursed child how he was a somewhat disastrous father (we saw too, how Hermione can't be happy without Ron, and was very happy and successful with him).

When J.K Rowling did the first book, "The Philosopher's Stone", she didn't make the characters and much later choose the romantic pairings. JKR thought first in Harry against Voldemort, and then she put the "alchemy" lovers to help him. Ron and Hermione, Sulfur and Mercury.

So let's learn a bit of HP ALCHEMY!

To transform lead (the semi-slave Harry of first book) into golden (the heroic Harry of the last book) seven steps must be followed in order to “purify” it (seven years, and seven books), using two key components, sulfur and mercury, also known in alchemy as “the quarreling couple”. It reminds you of something?

Mercury is the White Queen. She’s logical and cold, she represents the mind. (Hermione Granger. Hg, the Mercury symbol)

Sulfur is also called the Red King. He’s emotional and hot-tempered, represents the soul. (His colors are red and orange... where have I seen this before…).

The Red King and the White Queen must marry to make the Philosopher's Stone, and their union is symbolized by a rose... Rose, as the name of their daughter.

So JKR created Ron and Hermione to be lovers. So NO ROMIONE, is equal to NO Ron and NO Hermione.

What happened when it cames to give them personalities?

In this time JKR was going through a very hard divorce, so as a "romantic fundation" she used herself as Hermione and Sean Harris, an old (and unrequited) love of hers, as Ron.

This is the reason Ron is the more realistic character. He is based in a real person.

The bad news? This caused JKR to make Hermione way too perfect (she is a bit of a MarySue) and even worse... She have a LOVE/HATE relationship with Ron. Sometimes she remembered fondly his old flame and she reflected it in the books, and others she punished Sean (through Ron), for never return her feelings... This punishments are very evident in the last books and "had very little to do with literature" too, as she like to say.

It could have been Harry and Hermione (or any other character)? Maybe, but then all the alchemical thing would have been lost... and JKR would have founded her romance in herself and Sean all the same... so Harry could have ended with Ron personality.

She could have changed the pairings in the middle of the books? Change the plot half way it's always a disaster. She had 10 years to think about it (not some seconds in an interview), so if she didn't do it, was for good reasons.

Breaking up is just there for artificial angst and pointless drama. I'm not buying into the nonsense that not dating will keep Hermione safe when she will be with him everywhere. I don't know who would be convinced by this logic, certainly not Voldemort because it would insulting his intelligence. So I hope that you fix this quickly in the future.

Unless, your story would resolve around "Will they or will they not"...

I love the changes in the story.
Just one question, how will it be less dangerous for Hermione and Harry not to be together? When the whole school knew they were a couple and they have always been best friends, she was born Muggle that's bad for her, being Harry's best friend too, Harry's girlfriend will not change who wants to kill her. Or is there another reason why I forgot?

"Harry was forced to split up with Hermione last year"...don't you mean "a few weeks ago"? Dumbledore died in late June and they split up just after the funeral. He last saw her in July. Bill and Fleur were married Aug. 1st, and he was picked up a few days or a week prior to the wedding. Soooo...it's STILL July.

Now, that has to be the most stupid thing I've read. The WHOLE SCHOOL knows by now, so how do they think Voldie wont know? REALLY!? And they'll be together during the hunt with no one else around, so who are they hiding from?
