Absolutely adore your stories! But I do have a teeny gripe about this chapter (I can’t help it, I’m studying history at university lmaoWorld War II didn’t start until September of 1939. Unless you’re talking about Michael being sent to Egypt or another part of the empire where Britain was in a somewhat turbulent position and needed to “defend their interestswhat they really needed to do was gtfo) there’s no way he would’ve died in battle in 1938.

Literally my only complaint about this chapter. Everything else is fantastic as always!

The oc is a unique idea, I've never read a fic about a girl with a similar sickly background to Steve undergoing Project Rebirth also. And more than that, Olivia is just adorable. She might be too perfect, if I must make a complaint.

It's honestly just a canon rehash with an OC added, but you focused specifically on the oc instead of just describing the original in excruciating detail. That's excellent! I see it with Harry Potter fics a lot. It'll literally be the Harry Potter books with an extra character that somehow doesn't change *any* major plot points ever.

At one point- on the plane- you really overly described Olivia's reasoning for accepting Steve's decision for her to break stuff and him to break people. It was a simple thing, but you took what I feel like was at least five paragraphs to think it through and justify it when it boiled down to "Liv not good fighter, Steve good fighter". Caveman logic gets the same conclusion much faster. Not a big deal, just something I noticed and wanted to mention. I didn't notice it before so I don't think it's a habit really.

My main wish would be for more fluffy moments, but I understand how there's not a ton of that in a fic that primary takes place in a war. Hopefully the sequel has more of that.

SS Officer 2: You serve at his pleasure. He gave you this facility as a reward for your...injuries.
Johann Schmidt: A reward?! Call it what it is...exile! I no longer reflect his vision of Aryan perfection!
SS Officer 1: You think this is about appearances? Your HYDRA division has failed to produce so much as a rifle in over a year, and we have learned through local intelligence you had mounted a full-scale incursion into Norway!
SS Officer 2: The Führer feels...how does he put it?...the Red Skull has been indulged long enough!
Schmidt: Gentlemen, you have come to see the results of our work. Let me show you. [Shows them to his lab] Hitler speaks of a Thousand-Year Reich, but he cannot feed his armies for a month. His troops spill their blood across every field in Europe, but still he is no closer to achieving his goals. (Pulls sheet off Tesseract-powered laser cannon)
SS Officer 1: And I suppose you still aim to win this war through magic?
Schmidt: Science. But I understand your confusion. Great power has always baffled primitive men. HYDRA is assembling an arsenal to destroy my enemies in one stroke, wherever they are, regardless of how many forces they possess, all in a matter of hours.
SS Officer 2: Your enemies?
Schmidt: My weapons contain enough destructive power to decimate every hostile capital on Earth. Quite simply, gentlemen, I have harnessed the power of the gods.
SS Officer 2: Thank you, Schmidt.
Schmidt: For what?
SS Officer 2: For making it clear how obviously mad you are.
SS Officer 3: (Studies a map of all European capitals to be targeted, and sees one particular place) Berlin is on this map!
Schmidt: So it is. (Aims cannon at the SS officers)
SS Officer 3: You will be punished for your insolence! You will be brought before the Fūhrer himself! (Schmidt kills him and Officer 2)
SS Officer 1: (Cornered at the locked door) Schmidt! (Vaporizes under laser blast)
Schmidt: My apologies, Doctor, but we both knew HYDRA could grow no further in Hitler's shadow. Hail HYDRA.
HYDRA Officers: Hail HYDRA!
Dr. Arnim Zola: (Schmidt looks to him and Dr. Zola reluctantly says) Hail HYDRA!

Gideon Malick: I know you're all about rebooting Hydra and all that. But do you know much about our history, our origin?
Grant Ward: Yeah, World War II, Red Skull used Nazi funding to build this old empire...
Gideon Malick: (Laughs) Red Skull was following the principle that Hydra was built upon, that the ultimate power was not of this world, but Hydra... well, we're much, much older than that. Thousands of years ago, an Inhuman was born on this planet that was destined to rule it, so powerful, so fearsome that others were consumed with dread, and so they banished it from the Earth, sent it through the portal to a distant planet. Hydra was founded with the sole purpose of engineering its return. Over generations, Hydra's taken different shapes. The entity has been given different names. But every generation has sent men through the portal, hoping to save or at least serve our leader on the other side. Now we're building an army for it to command when it returns, and you and I will rule beside it.
Grant Ward: Okay. That's, uh... a lot to take in.
Gideon Malick: (Chuckles) Well, it's a tall tale. I know.
Grant Ward: And why exactly should I believe a word of it?
Gideon Malick: Because we're closer than ever to the final chapter. We're gonna write it ourselves. But you don't have to believe me. I know you want revenge, to cut the head off of S.H.I.E.L.D., to watch it writhe. I'll help you do that.
Grant Ward: And in return?
Gideon Malick: You'll help me learn how S.H.I.E.L.D. was able to achieve something with the portal that Hydra, in thousands of years, has never been able to accomplish.
Grant Ward: And what is that?
Gideon Malick: They brought someone back.

Just gotta squeal a lot here. I waited until I read the entire thing before trying to review because I would have spammed you with reviews per chapter. That arm Slappy thing Peggy does? I DO THAT TOO. I did it when Capt and Livy finally kissed. Sure, it was my co-workers arm and I got scolded for reading FF at work yet AGAIN... but it was worth it. I couldn't wait to see how they developed and grew together. The way you ended it was great and I can't wait to launch into the rest of the set.

Really liked the story and look forward to the next one.
