I'm still not sure how this would work. Even if Jim was too young to remember the Darklands, I doubt the Gumm Gumm or the other Changlings would have just left him alone. That is wasteful for a spy.

Honestly my first thought when readying this story was if Jim was a second generation Changling. Do we know if it is possible for a Changling to have an offspring with a human? If so, would that Changling be able to assume human form due to their birth parents?

I like this AU, a lot. So much extra angst!

I really love the line “Adversity is the tool with which we build our strengths.” It’s very reminiscent of the “don’t think, become” monologue.

i like vendel in this. hes so patient and wise, and holds more information than there needs to be told. im at the edge of my seat! who is this little troll! Who switched him and for what purpose! all the characters are so animated too. I can perfectly hear the dialogue between each of these characters.
