I am enjoying the development of this immensely. Good characterization, the OC is well thought out. I personally have no preference for the pairing (although with Jaune's new attitude, the original possibility of Vernal is edging in there).
I do have to disagree with you on readjusting the timescale of the Great War. Technology, once it begins taking off, takes off REALLY fast. Just look at the difference in military loadout from the American Civil War to the Second World War.
Add in Nicholas Schnee practically revolutionizing Dust production, and then top it off with all four kingdoms acting like a nearly global government, and that's a lot of innovation in a very short amount of time. 80 years isn't really a lot of time to go from swords and shields to guns ans superpowers. The mecha-shift is a bit much, but warfare has always driven innovation, and no war is as eternal as the fight against the Grimm.
