The Valeyard chapter 7 . 7/20/2018
First off, *never* apologize for longer chapters. 1900 words is by no means a "long" chapter, except to people with the attention span of a hyperactive ferret on a sugar high. When you start writing chapters that are over 10,000 words, *then* you can worry that your chapters are starting to get too long. :)

Second - a writing tip. When you have a line of dialogue followed by a dialogue tag (the "who said it and how" part), they are considered to be *one* sentence, not two separate ones. So, if the character's spoken dialogue would normally end with a period (a declarative sentence), you use a *comma* before the closing quote, like this:

-
"Go ahead, open it," she said.
-

and the first word of the dialogue tag is NOT capitalized, unless it's someone's name. If the spoken dialogue ends with a ? or a !, then you use those marks before the closing quote as usual, but you still do not capitalize the first word of the dialogue tag unless it's a name:

-
"Seriously Judy, it's fine. Where are we going?" asked Nick.
-
"Yes, Sir!" the bunny responded.
-

This also applies to internal dialogue, as well. ("That rabbit is going to be the death of me," he thought.) The *only* time you end the dialogue with a period before the closing quote is if the dialogue is *not* followed by a who-said-it-and-how dialogue tag and just stands on its own.

"Auto-complete" (or, as it really should be called, "auto-corrupt") on phones and tablets tends to screw this up, because it doesn't understand the context of what you're typing and just *assumes* that a quote mark after *any* punctuation mark means the end of the sentence and the next word should be capitalized. So - don't rely on it. In fact, I strongly advise not using a phone or tablet at all when it comes to writing, and using a real computer with a proper text editor or word-processor program instead. :D
USA Patriot chapter 7 . 7/14/2018
I feel like there is one slight problem with the secret room. It has a glass ceiling, which leads to outside. And nobody has every seen it? From the outside I mean. Unless it's some out of the way place nobody has ever been too. Well, obviously the people that built it were there but that's beside the point. Great chapter. Either Nick or Judy has to come clean already.

This has been fun but I don't think that Stu would be so oblivious.
Fox in the hen house chapter 7 . 7/12/2018
Dammit Nick! You missed out telling her in the Murder Room!
USA Patriot chapter 6 . 7/7/2018
Sweet chapter. Got to meet Judy’s sister, who’s going through law school and getting engaged. Her life is going great. Ya know, that’s something I never really thought of, same sex couples, who’s last name do they take? I guess whichever sounds better. Or flip a coin, make a deal of some kind. Lol, Nick needs more ammunition to tease Judy.
