This was awesome! Finally got around to read it and as always, loved it!

OMG, get away from my beloved angel, Asmodeus! O.O (both of them, LOL)

WOW what a terrifying oneshot, because as much as Asmodeus wasn't my favorite villain, he was good for the whump and angst and hurt! I can so easily see this happening. (That jerk looming over Cas, holding out the syringe... *shudders*... "I own you, Castiel." Yipes!)

But of course it ended with that comfort I love so very much, and the boys taking care of their wounded angel, and Cas always fighting for his beloved boys, and then there's Gabriel in the mix which you KNOW I love, and... *happy sigh* I love H/C fics! Thanks so much for this one!

All in all this is a wonderful blend of canon and AU, with the AU giving us Castiel fans some Cas h/c that the series for some reason just doesn't want to do.

I would've liked to have seen a Gabriel POV, maybe when he came back to himself and remembered just what he is. But I think that is because as much as I love Gabriel, I love him best (and mostly) in big brother mode to Castiel and this may not have been the most appropriate time for that resurgence.

My one 'complaint,' as it were, is that I'm kinda confused about why the demon didn't bother to follow Sam to the tree line after following him through the rift. Was the alternate reality just too overwhelming for it? Because, unless I misread something, it seemed as if Sam was running through snow, which would leave an easy trail to follow. Even if there was a thin crusty layer on top, a man of Sam's size moving at speed would definitely punch through it; even if he didn't completely break through the crustiness, he'd still leave an obvious indent of where he'd run so the demon could've tracked him down. Unless there were other footprints to confuse the trail? And I'm totally not detracting from the wonderfulness of the story, because it was wonderful - it's just that as a person who lives in a region where we get snow, that's the first thing I zeroed in on.

One of the things I loved about this story was Asmodeus. I don't like him, per se, but apparently he's a villain I love to hate 'cause I did kinda like the guy. But in trying to figure *that* out, I think I've concluded that it's because I think of him as a blend of Boss Hogg and Benny; I did not like Boss Hogg, but I loved Benny. I guess I just really liked that Southern charm/accent he had about him. However, one of the best canon lines *ever* is still Gabriel's "'Oh, and by the way … I always hated that dumbass suit.'"

In that vein, I also liked Ketch here; I want to like him, I want to believe he can be redeemed and that he's working to do so.

I also loved how both Winchesters were worried about their angel, not just their mom and even Jack. One of my favorite sections is "... (Sam) hoped his brother would arrive soon. And that his other brother could hold on long enough for them to get back" because it shows us what canon doesn't really give us: Sam thinking (or saying) of Castiel as his brother, as family, instead of always leaving that for Dean to verbalize. I love that Sam was angry at Cas for sacrificing himself so Sam could escape because it shows how much Sam cares. I love that Dean hadn't called Cas to come with him because he didn't want Cas in the other reality, not when the last time Cas was near a rift, Lucifer killed him; again, because it shows just how much Dean cares about him. And dammit all anyway, Cas *deserves* that.

As usual, your characterization is awesome. You do a great job of capturing all of them as they should be while still being true to canon. One of my most favorite examples of this (besides the above) was "Dean's jaw ticked. 'Right. So, be careful not to shoot the angels with the angel killing bullets.'" I also loved the image of Gabriel flying his wounded brother back to the dormitory wing and collapsing on the bed next to him, as worn as his baby bro. And I loved that despite that Dean's (and Ketch's) mission failed, he was still hopeful and mainly determined: "It was a never-ending fight. But he'd keep at it. Until everyone was back home safe and sound."

Oh the Cas whump! I liked the AU take on this, though I'm glad Asmodeus only took Cas' grace out and didn't have time to shoot himself up with it *shudder*. I liked that Gabe stayed to help them with Cas too instead of running off. His little bro was definitely in a bad state. And of course Cas sacrificed himself as the punching bag as usual. But everything turned out okay in the end and we got some Cas care so it's all good ;)

Hi! I have been reading your stories for about 2 months now without actually reviewing them. (Sorry.) Anyway, I love your Supernatural and Shadowhunters stories, probably because I love Cas and Alec whump. This fic was as amazing and I enjoy reading your text because you don't make typos and your stories are always thought through. I also love how Sam just casually referred Cas as his brother. I want you to know that even if I don't review your stories often, I still read them because you're an awesome writer. :)
I'd also like to ask your opinion on something that's been bothering me ever since I watched Scoobynatural for the first time.. Did Cas use his wings when Shaggy and Scooby fell off the balcony? Because I really doubt that he used his trench coat as a parachute. He wouldn't have been able to stop the fall completely, considering what his wings look like now, but he could have slowed it down? Maybe? In any case, I love your stories and I will keep reading them. -
