Cosmic Pretty Re-ina chapter 3 . 2/3/2019 Bless you, I've been looking for TakuMegu for some time now. Keep up the good work. |
loverletter chapter 3 . 9/16/2018 Ah right, Megumi's not the only one who uses his first name! Souma's here too. Ah, Rebel Trio antics. Alright, we're gonna do dot points. I loved this instalment. - Takumi! So dramatic! I love how childish he can be despite how incredibly skilled he is... Souma's actually the more mature one, which is a welcome change to see in a shounen's mc-rival dynamic. I love that you noted the fact that Soum'a fond of him oh my god...I love them... "amusement and affection" ! - TADOKORO! SHE'S HERE ! Look even if she and Takumi weren't a thing- it'd make SO MUCH SENSE for her to be on his side in this match. It just goes with who she is, but I'm still really glad that you showed her being a little flustered about being there, to the point where she only acknowledges Souma at the very, very end. - Side note: Osso Bucco pie, eh? I wonder what the theme was? - Oh, I love Souma and Takumi's back-and-forth'ing in here SO much. The teasing, the complete and utterly take aback-ness at the wake of a victory, the sorina confirmation (not my main ship, but they're so, so interesting and fun and I love that Erina's a constant on his mind, in all her thorny glory) and the fact that Souma and Megumi are such good friends here that jealousy isn't completely unwarranted- but they're good friends to the point where the idea is also like? Ridiculous? I love it. - Speaking of Souma and Megumi, I love the little "wry smile and shrug of shoulder" thing you added. Y'know what it really reminded me of? That /one/ panel at the end of the red vs white fight on the tsukiage, with Erina and Takumi knee-deep in their argument about who Won, and Souma-Megumi looking on with fond, exasperated smiles. I've never seen sisterships and their dynamics be so clearly outlined- honestly, if anything, Souma and Megumi's friendship make takumegu and sorina that much better, and I think you really played that idea to your advantage, well done, you! - Oh, they're finally alone, aww. I love how invested he is in the idea of /them/- even when "they" aren't quite a thing yet. He's just so smitten! Like, c'mon, Takumi! "Tadokoro is home?" What a sap. I love him. - As always, I melt for scenarios where Megumi's the calm, understanding image of loveliness that the resident pretty boy is Totally soft for- so basically, exactly this. "He can't believe how fast she makes his heart beat" like, 1. what wonderful phrasing and 2. Me ! Neither! Takumi, you complete, lovestruck idiot! I'm so into this whole CONCEPT I might just have to punch a wall. Last chapter, what a sad farewell! I do hope you'll write for them again- I've already noted on your writing style, but again; I love the flow of your reading, and the softness of it, and I'd love to see these two under your penmanship again! |
loverletter chapter 2 . 9/16/2018 I was so busy gushing about how cute they were in the last chapter, I forgot to point out two teensy-weensy, super minuscule mistakes; 1. It's Isshiki, I think! You wrote it as Ishiki, which is a common enough mistake to make. Just the one 's'. 2. Megumi's on a first name basis with him! I noticed that she referred to him as "Aldini-kun" in the story, but at that point in the manga, she's already begun to call him "Takumi-kun." I think she's the only person in the cast who's actually on a first name basis with him, actually- unless you consider Yuuki's Takumicchi-Isamicchi teas. Oh, and he's the only person aside from Souma she refers to by the first name! Rebel Trio antics, adorable. Now, onto this actual chapter! Le Aurora- it's a fitting name, no? All light and interplay... it was a really cute detail you put in too, with Isshiki sending them a rosewood mirror (compassion and loving heart, eh senpai?) because ugh, he totally would! Forget Shino, and all the Tohoku fishermen, you know who Takumi'd have to get past first for her hand? Isshiki-senpai. Papa Polar Star ain't letting you take out Megumi "it's finally time for you to fly away from your little garden" Tadokoro-chan that easy. Anyway, how cute is it that he's amused at her little tendencies even now... I love the change-up of perspective from last chapter, from Takumi, to Megumi's point of view, because he's just so /pretty/ in her eyes, isn't he? I mean, c'mon Tadokoro, his golden head catches in the sunlight? Eyes bright with amusement? Chef's whites crisp to an edge- I mean, lbr, the trattoria outfit has always looked too good on him- she's /smitten/. It's goddamn Adorable. On a more meta note- I love that you've framed them as equals to the point where Megumi actively fears envy, of all things, to ruin this for her, and I love how easily Takumi waves it off. Not because she's not as good as him, but because she is and he /loves/ that about her. They're too goddamn functional and healthy, smfh, get married already- Oh. OH. Okay, first of all, how goddamn CUTE that he's so flustered! How goddamn in-character that she decides to just...not let on that she Knows because of /course/ and how lovely, that push and pull of the scene before he locks the door (ooh la la- *shot*) and oh, the actual proposal...so theatric and rehearsed and quintessentially Aldini. The ending too, of course, is perfect- must say, you've got a knack for those soft-impact finales, no? So alive and in-love and happy, happy, happy. Oh, let them be happy! |
loverletter chapter 1 . 9/15/2018 A note on your writing style- you've got a real knack for focusing on deceptively intimate details, and because of that aspect being delivered through Takumi's perspective, he himself comes across as almost...unbearably tender. You can't help loving him here- you know, there's a headcanon floating around tumblr that posits that the Aldinis, as smart as they are, often will use the word "suki" in the everyday, not really understanding the weight of the word, flustering everyone else around them? Admittedly, the first time I read this, I was a little...eh about Takumi's straight up use of the word "love." I mean, you wouldn't really phrase things like that when talking to a friend, would you? I couldn't personally see it myself, but when you consider that headcanon, Takumi's vocabulary, and Isami's too, I s'pose, just becomes...incredibly endearing. Such darlings. But yes, intimacy! It /feels/ like a big theme in this piece too, doesn't it? Ah, there's such a softness in the way you've framed Megumi; overt descriptions of beauty'd never suit her, but this? This fresh-faced, ocean-tinged sort of loveliness? Is perfect. The way you shift the audience's gaze, and Takumi's, to the slimness of her shoulders, the paleness of her skin, her downward gaze, the nape of her neck- look, it's not a sensual scenario, but there's a closeness to its melancholy, if that makes sense? Speaking of melancholy, I love that there was this sudden burst of hc'ing in the shokugeki circles of Megumi never quite getting over her loss- because I really do believe that like so many other things the rebel trio have in common, her sobbing in the sidelines was a direct parallel to Souma punching the wall after losing to Shino, or Takumi's breakdown behind-doors about how he's never been more miserable in his life than when he lost to Mimasaka; almost insurmountable obstacles that they all took on wanting to win, and if the diner duo were allowed to hone that anger, reject the fact that they had to be 'saved', use that humiliation to /grow/... Megumi should too. She would, too. Even if in a softer, more understated way than the others- and you've portrayed that understatement well. Kudos. Now, their dynamic in this piece; of course, like I said, Takumi is a darling. His complete understanding of her situation, the fact that he calls her out for being so transparent- it's really impactful because there's a lot of space about it between them. I thought it was really special in the manga when Souma and Erina went to comfort her immediately, but Takumi waited till he had something substantial to say, and it was really special when what he said seemed to genuinely cheered her up. They'd be the kind of people to give each other space, don't you think? Lastly, I love the line "cheeks eaten up in crimson"- what a lovely way to phrase it! And a massive AW moment with the two of them being flustered and ditzy and adorable- he called her adorable, /aw./- and the ending is just perfect. "Isami laughs at him for it" ah, of course he does. :') |
