Reviews for The Fall
Anonymousme chapter 1 . 12/13/2019
I normally don't read Sleeping Beauty fics, though I do occasionally, but I saw this on your profile after reading the Chronicles of Narnia Silver Court Saga between you and Sealure and decided to have a look. I loved this! Somewhat angsty, but beautiful and thought-provoking. We never really think about it, but the whole thing with Maleficent would have indeed taken a toll on both of them, and this beautifully illustrated both that and the loving relationship that I like to think they would have had and developed even better over time. Keep writing!

I like the repreat of words, they give the story a fairy tale touch.
It's a pretty sweet take over how Aurora and Philip might deal with the aftermath of the sleep curse and even if short, the characters managed to have personality.
American Ishida chapter 1 . 5/24/2018
Although I don't like Sleeping Beauty that much, I enjoyed this story. I could never get myself to feel for the characters expect Maleficent. The reason was that the movie never shows what life is like for Aurora and Phillip after she is awakened and Maleficent dies. There is a few scenes but I never found her that interesting as a person. She was only interesting and important when she was asleep.

So when reading this story I was surprised to see how much attention was given to develop their relationship as well as talk about the after effects of sleeping for so long. She was basically in a really long coma. To wake up from that and to then go live a normal life that involves sleeping for only a few hours a day, that's a hard pill to swallow. And it's shown in Auroroa feeling like she is falling endlessly. It's a very powerful description and it made my sympathize with a character I didn't care about at all before.

I also like how it became confusing around the middle when Philip woke up and Aurora says, "I don't know whose awake and whose asleep but I don't care". Phillip was also one of those characters where I didn't care for him at all, but I respected the audacity he had to get what he wanted. Constantly throughout he had the epithet "white white Phillip". At first I thought it was weird how his whiteness was being emphaized like that. It made it seem like he was really pale. But I soon came to take it as Phillip being something otherworldly. When in the state Aurora was in, seeing someone who is "white white" can come off as strange. But it gives Phillip a strong presence as he is able to stay persistent in Aurora's thoughts and sight as she is going through this odd state of awake and asleep. The "white white" is even used on the sheets at one point which makes me believe that the whiteness to Aurora is otherworldly and is keeping Aurora from losing herself to the falling.

I liked this story a lot more than I thought I would.
