Oh, I am ~so~ sorry you stopped this. Great work! You've captured so many of the characters perfectly.

I never did figure out why it's called "bashing" to depict the personalities of Dumbledore and the Marotters (name from Alethea27) precisely as they were in canon. Yes, the events you portray are different from those in the books, but those characters ring absolutely true. Your idea of Dumbledore's having enspelled Lily is an inspired explanation of her betrayal of Snape - one really does need an OOC Lily for them get together in the end.

Anyway, I like your writing and will sample some other stories, though my primary interest is in SSLEs. I so regret the utter shafting of Snape that I favor fics where he gets his greatest wish.

Huh. Really? Magic doesn't just clean up the pancreas and the like? I always figured the generalized anti-aging effect also covered organ damage. Then again, it's not like magic is all that consistent in canon.

Truly a situation in which one has to wonder which side is worse. If you're poor and/or not from a famous line, you're just cannon fodder to the scumbags on both sides of the war. At least Lily and Severus seem to be mostly free of it.

Eh, I also think Pettigrew's a little off. I understand why you're writing him that way, since Sirius said in canon that Peter "always liked big friends who’d look after [him]", but he followed that up by talking about Peter holding off on siding with Voldemort until he was sure he was "the biggest bully in the playground". That is, he wasn't talking about Peter seeking people who would "look after" him in the social or financial sense, but in the Mafioso sense. So I'd have characterized Peter as maybe having some vague objections at the back of his mind, but choosing to follow James and Sirius because the alternative was them turning their attentions on him.

That said, any humiliation of Dumbledore by competent and principled people is always enjoyable. I have a strong personal aversion to regulators, but I've come to realize that people like Dumbledore are why we're saddled with them. *sigh* If men were angels, there would be no need for government, etc. etc.

Interesting plot, but I have to say the physical abuse of Severus seemed off. James and Sirius are proud Purebloods* and would have tortured him magically rather than resorting to mere "Muggle" means.

* Yes, I know they're not formally aligned with the Blood Purists. Still, it's a bit suspicious that the rich Pureblood boys canonically chose a poor Half-Blood as their greatest enemy... you know, rather than any of the *Pureblooded* future Death Eaters. I suppose maybe they were virulently classist rather than Blood Purist, and they would have gleefully gone after a Weasley in Slytherin just as happily as they went after Severus...
