Lol. I loved it. Dean can be so stubborn. And Sam should have insisted the moment he saw Dean on checking the shoulder... Lol. Those boys... You give them such heart and souls and I feel like I can almost touch them every time I read one of these. Superbly fantastic.

The part where you mention one of them laying on the staircase landing of a haunted house...is that from an episode or a prior story? 15 years and you'd think i could remember all the details more readily, haha!

I've been waiting to read both of your tags (this and Aftermath) for when I have more time but alas, I still don't have much time haha. This was awesome though, and I DO have time to list off a few favorite lines!

“They’ve been on a hell of an emotional roller coaster the past several months, and just one more hit- just one more loss- could be the one that sends his brother spiraling back down the dark path that left him lying dead on a landing in a haunted house.”

Any reference to 13x05 is a good and necessary one- I feel like we've talked about this before, but Dean's actions in that episode were disturbing and kind of on a whole new level of self-sabotage/self-sacrifice for Dean Winchester, which is saying a helluva lot. I'm glad Sam's headspace acknowledges the severity of that and is always continually worried that Dean will slip back into that, because that was a huge moment in my opinion and I'd assume Sam would always have it in the back of his mind now.

“Says it like they’re talking about a flat tire instead of an otherworldly wound inflicted by a deadly weapon.”

It's kind of funny (not funny haha) that in a lot of cases, Sam and Dean do kind of talk about injuries like they're flat tires. They've become so commonplace. So when Sam is legitimately trying for over-casual like this, you know it's bad. That line was a great way of showing just how worried he was. Also, I just want to commend you on your dialogue in general. It's always strong and in-character for me, but in this story in particular, the brothers really sound like /them/. Two quick examples:

1. “I told you, Sam, I’m fine.”
“Yeah I know what you /told/ me.”

2. “What’s wrong?”
“Well, for one thing, you’re on the floor.”

They're both short, simple lines, but that's part of what makes them so true to Sam and Dean's interactions with one another and especially Sam's choice of words with his brother when he's particularly worried about him. Awesome tag, as always!

Oh man, there's very little I love more than one brother caring for the other injured brother. You depict Dean as a stubborn patient so well. I can just see him rolling his eyes at Sam's little table clinic before pouring whiskey and passing out while standing. Thank you so much for this. And just a response to your note: I was SO stressed and anxious for the finale the whole week leading up to it. And now that it's past I'm a little bummed for the whole hellatus we have to now suffer through. October? Seriously? 13 years and it still isn't getting any easier to take! But I enjoyed the finale. INTENSE. Thanks again for this! *hugs*

I wanted a bit more hurt Dean after that episode but the way he got angry at Sam and Cas was scary.
I am looking forward to the finale but not the wait for the next season.

While magical hearings are good in the long run, they do shorten the amount of these types of scenes we get to see in the show, so thanks for filling in a possible blank! Not surprised Dean literally went until he dropped...grrr dude take care of yourself. And hells yeah the finale is tomorrow and I am terrified.
