I thought that was brilliant and really well done! I too have trouble with characterization, but I believe you did an excellent job with Mac and Jack :) Especially when we don’t have too much of a glimpse into their partnership prior to DXS/Phoenix. Seriously, this was fantastic. Thank you!

You did a good job explaining the first with them. And the understanding they came to so fits them. So now they have Ground rule figure out. They can still work together/with each other.

this was incredible! I stayed up way too late last night reading it and thought about it all day today! It was jam packed with action, and I never once felt lost with who was where. I always have trouble with spatial awareness so it was really cool to read a story and know exactly where people and things were.
I cried multiple times in this story. The scene with Jack and the pilot absolutely ripped my heart out. I really liked that after Jack made sure Mac was safe he went back to bring him home.

Mac being disorientated was really well written. I could feel his panic, with taking the gun apart, and then later when the Delta boys showed up, but he didn't know who they were. I really enjoyed his interactions with them even though he was so out of it.

I think people (the show writers) forget how much of a badass Jack is and it drives me nuts. This story really showed how much Jack is capable of and it was so enjoyable to read.

The awkward drive home made me cry a little too, because there was so much emotion there on both ends and it was fascinating to see those bumps in the road on the way to becoming the partnership we know.

I really enjoy how you've written these early days of Mac and Jack, learning to trust each other, becoming friends, worrying about each other.
I know I'm forgetting more things that I loved about this story, but it's going to be one I come back to multiple times!

I loved it! I love reading about how they get to know each other in the army. Mac was young and I think you accurately captured that. I'm going to re-read it. It was thoughtful. How do you think how Mac tells Jack that his dad abandoned him.

I've read this story straight through three times, and I've read my favorite parts so many times that I don't even bother closing the window in my browser anymore. This is the best one yet!

33 Loved it!

First off, I think that you did a wonderful job with the characters, especially Jack. Showing just how good of a soldier he was, and the lengths he'll go to protect not only Mac, but others as well even at the risk of himself.

Second. I loved every moment of this. Mac's words to Jack in the cave, even tho I knew part of it was from his pain and fear, damn near broke my heart.
