Don't worry about whether something is "cultural appropriation." People look for an excuse to be offended. Ignore them. As long as you're trying to be respectful, you ARE respectful, and people who refuse to accept that do NOT get to decide whether their "feelings are hurt." Just write what you want to write, and don't worry about pyromaniacs looking for reasons to flame people.
