Wow. This is a What If Kag met Sess first AU? Awesome! I've read a lot of SessKag but only come across a couple of these, and while it looked promising cuz I love the idea and the uniqueness, only one was really good but too short (like a long one shot at about 1000 words?) that I'd always wanted to read a very long chaptered proper story of an AU with Kag meeting Sesshomaru first. I actually love that IY won't be in your story (or very minimal) and you won't try to force him in (I don't dislike him, just hate seeing characters forced in just for sake of having them in the story. ie how almost all authors try to orphan Shippo/Rin so that they'll be adopted by Kagome/Sesshomaru…and the weirdness of a 15yo 21C bred middle schooler calling a boy who's around her little bro Souta's age (8-9yo) mentally but simply cuz he's physically tiny, coddle/yelling "my son!" at him (which is so not their canon relationship – which is a complex mix of older sis/friend with a little mothering thrown in). Anyway, It's nice that you're not forcing in canon characters but may use them as needed but not just for sake of having them in the story. In this story, I like the idea of seeing Kagome travel with Sesshomaru (and not just re-hashing original canon with inutachi traveling together and Rin w Sess's group) so minimal, if any, IY/Rin/Ship would be nice (While I like them all, I think I'd prefer NOT seeing any of them in this story actually). I see you kept Miroku and Sango but looking forward to seeing how you're gonna deal with them – befriend Kagome and they travel separately (kinda like Kouga allies with Kagome without traveling with her group)? Intriguing start. Nicely done.

I totally agree with you. IY has lots of words that can't be translated into English. Lots of strikes/attacks (which better to keep original JP names. I agree the English strike names are corny/cringe worthy - Toxic Flower Claw, Iron Reaver Soul Stealer XD) and I agree with using "Tessaiga" ie the way it's verbalized and not the written Tetsusaiga reading of Kanji cuz no one says it like that. (If you insist that should be written Tetsusaiga, Sesshomaru should be then be SETSUshomaru and we all know that's not his name (not how it's pronounced). Using the same logic of using Sesshomaru's VERBAL pronunciation and not the reading of the Kanji, should be Tessaiga and you're right - it's important to read the furigana on the side of the Kanji.

Using to the proper JP terms is especially important when it comes to "Youkai" cuz in Takahashi sensei's world, youkais are not supernatural beings like spirits but MORTAL (even if long living/almost immortal) just different species to humans! I'm so glad you don’t try to wrongly translate that to English - one of my pet peeves seeing it as "demons". THANK YOU!

I really agree with the sentiment that foreign words should not be used senselessly. This is an English fanfiction, and foreign words interrupt the flow.

This is really good! Great idea having this Canon turned AU - What If Kagome met Sesshomaru First story. I loved it! And it's really unique. The only thing that is rather unbelievable is how strong Naraku is without the Shikon as I thought he derived not only most of his strength but his incarnations were made with the power of the jewel...but it's certainly action packed. Especially with the fake jewel and the 4 Lords after kuromiko & company. Your world has a lot more evils and a heck of a lot more powerful than the original canon lol.

..and THAT'S why I prefer to read finished fanfics lol, I really enjoyed your story and was hoping beyond reason that it was completed. Alas! That is not the case.. Maybe one day? Well, I have been sick in bed all day, so thank you for the pleasant distraction.

I like what I've read of this story this far. I also agree with your use of romanji and comments on Jaken's character. I personally feel that his interaction with Rin made him far more likable and relatable.
