Anonymous chapter 51 . 7/27 Thank you for this story :) your portrayal is excellent and the storyline itself kept you on the edge of the seat. More than that it made me think and imagine - if that makes sense. Thanks again :) |
Esther Clemmens chapter 51 . 6/20 Oh that was a lovely ending to the perfect roller coaster ride of a tale! I loved how you left the possibilities open to so many things. It's like one of the lines in the movie "The Last Unicorn"- "There are no happy endings because nothing ends." The tale keeps on going and all we can know for sure is what has happened and not what will. *hands on hips* Nathan the humble scribe, huh? *shakes finger at Nathan accusingly* Now don't you go on pretending you didn't have a lot more than one of your grubby mitts in how this all played out. I see you being all sneaky. This story made him out to be the real Cheshire Cat. Lol And I'm so relieved that Yuri did get better. I was hoping this wasn't going to parallel Diva and Saya's ending. Loved it completely! Take care of yourself my friend. It was an epic masterpiece and a joy to read. |
Spartan Altego chapter 51 . 6/2 Damn it, I’m going to miss reading this. Having your work to look forward to as an update in my favorites list was a genuine pleasure. All in all, I’m satisfied with this conclusion! There’s plenty of joy to go around, finally, for our heroes - and babies galore, oh my! - and a good sense of finality to the tale. I exclaimed aloud in “I fucking called it!” delight when Dee became the next of Saya’s guardians. Knew that was bound to happen, though Kai’s death was an unexpected tragedy to catalyze it. Still, somehow because the epilogue is set before that event and ends beforehand, in a sense, the sting is muted. I’m glad that things worked out mostly alright in the end for Yuri and Yumi, V and Sachi, even with the post-war drama. You really succeeded in making them distinct and likeable. I’d love to learn about their children and grandchildren in time, since they’re certain to be cauldrons of character as well. And best of all, Saya and Hagi get their happily ever after. It’s sweet and everything they’ve been building up towards this entire story. May it last long and well. I do sincerely hope you decide to write more, be it in this fandom or another! You’re a rare talent and a delight to follow, with an imagination that excites and encourages readers to come along with you. Until then, best of wishes to ya. |
Dandy Mandy chapter 51 . 6/1 Congratulations! I say this from the bottom of my heart; you are a damn good storyteller. There are not many stories that would have held my attention for 51 chapters, particularly not most fanfiction, let’s be honest. You’ve elevated the humble amateur format to high art: it is beautiful, well-researched, nuanced, compelling, emotional - I actually cried when Saya slipped into her long sleep in Haji’s arms. What was there to dislike about this story? Nothing! Obviously there is a lot that is uncomfortable and tragic and hitting close to the nerve and real- life but I always felt those choices were made to carefully serve the narrative rather than be gruesome for the sake of it and always handled sensitively. Specifically about the epilogue though, I feel like the mysteries I would have wanted to know (was Saya able to have children of her own) were not answered and the ones I wouldn’t have wanted to know (how Kai died) were answered in detail, which is infuriating in a way that is really on-brand for Nathan haha. Don’t know how I feel about Dee being made into a chevaliere. I don’t consider it a blessing to live forever and she was already 60 years old, not exactly young. And then existing like an awkward third-wheel in her and Haji’s life. I dunno! It’s not ideal! Still, those are just my musings and I’m in no way dissatisfied with the ending. I thank you for staying committed to writing it and for always engaging with me in nice messages in response to my reviews. As long as you keep writing Blood stories, I’ll always want to read them. Warmest thanks x |
mangafreak1997 chapter 51 . 5/31 I’m in tears right now. This is by far the best and most beautifully written fanfic I have ever read. The blending of the history and mythology and literature all in one was amazing. Nothing ever felt forced and I am so sad that it is over but I am happy to have found such a talented author. I look forward to any and all future stuff and I thank you for the journey! |
Esther Clemmens chapter 48 . 5/15 I figured that little rock would find a good use. Lol Hey, sorry about that. I seemed to have forgotten to review this chapter. *looks at ground sheepishly* oops. Yuri might not ever be the same but at least she'll be alive for her daughters- which is what she and everyone else is wanting anyway. As for the way Torìr went out, I think its a bit fitting. He wanted daughters and revenge. In his mind, he fwlt this would balance the scales of justice... However Saya revealed her secret and snatched his hopes away on the wings of his dying breath. Quite the fitting punishment really... And he got to bone the neice of his queen, so there's that. (Incidentally I don't find what they did so far-fetched. The sexual tension between them has been winding into a knot since they first met) As for the burial, I don't know. I think that in the ways of Vikings, not giving Torìr's body to the flames, instead burying him as he was, would have been the biggest insult possible. Well, it's Saya's call anyway. A great ending to an epic battle. Thoroughly enjoyed it! As for my brood and myself, we are staying safe. We only go out for work or essentials, wear face masks and gloves. Ah, the world is changing. 5 months ago you'd be given pretty strange looks for walking around in masks, rubber gloves, and a spritzer of sanitizer. Now you look weird if you don't. Hope you are staying safe and doing what you love. As for me, after I get off work I'm going to tackle something short, adorable, and ticklish and I'm gonna hold her there until she pinky promises to finish her school work. Lol |
Spartan Altego chapter 49 . 5/15 Now *that* is what I call a Chekhov’s gun. Very, very nice. Of course, I also appreciate that you went a step further and only rewarded the crew with a partial victory by regressing Yuri to her child state. I’m optimistic that her memories will return with time, but the problem as always is that time means different things between Chiropterans and humans. Saya losing her daughters for the second time is a shame, but feels a bit out of left field because her Long Sleep hadn’t been brought up as imminent for a while. Still, hope for the future again with Julia on the case. Lastly, Kai and Dee continue to make me smile. |
Esther Clemmens chapter 49 . 5/14 Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! Nooooooo! Saya needs her babies! It was supposed to be the crowning on the happy ending! But we all know real life doesn't come with many of those. With time, I'm sure Yuri will recover to at least be able to function on her own. Poor thing, I so hope she does get better. Glad to see Dee joining the Myagusku household to help take care of the two little sirens. Yuri.. I'm so sad she is missing out on the joy of mothering her daughters. And Haji! That Poor guy has been through hell and back and now... His head came off! I'm surprised he would bounce back from that one. Just stitch his head back on, he'll be fine. Yeah, bet you never heard that in a movie before. Lol. It's going to be heartbreaking when he wakes up to find that, yet again, there will be no babies for he and Saya. :( Why oh why now? Can't the universe, just this once, give Saya more time? Just a year- come on Wonderful update, again. |
Dandy Mandy chapter 49 . 5/14 This was a tough chapter to read - really brutal. I’m beyond devastated that Saya miscarried again and that Yuri woke up with brain damage. I see you’ve created slivers of a silver lining here and there however: Yuri is a chiropteran and will possibly heal, Julia is synthesising a fertility drug for Saya, everyone also survived including David and Kai which is a better outcome than I was expecting as I thought it might be the end of the “old guard” of Red Shield. The scene between Kai and Dee at the end was touching - deciding to take their relationship to the next level. It felt like an acknowledgement of Kai’s mortality: he may not see Saya awaken or Yuri become “herself” again within his lifetime but that he will fully embrace the present and all the time remaining to him. Please let the last chapter and epilogue be happy ones - I feel like my heart has been put through the wringer! |

mangafreak1997 chapter 48 . 5/1 Omg is that was so good . This is my favorite story on Fanfic. You put so much into each chapter and it is captivating. |
Dandy Mandy chapter 48 . 5/1 I think I had expected this. Not that there is anything predictable about the plot but that it’s seemed like a natural and fitting end to Saya and Torir’s story and the cumulation of their most animal desires - to mate and then to kill - it reminded me of spiders from the widow family a little bit. I also thought this might have been the only way Torir would lower his defences - not even during the act itself but afterwards when he was vulnerable. Falling in love with Saya was the literal chink in his armor. I’m a bit sad for Nathan. What does an immortal Chevalier without his Queen do? Will he continue to watch over generations of Queens forever? Do chevaliers eventually die at the ripe old age of a million? Also, I wonder what Torir meant about Yuri could have been saved if Saya had spared her mother. Was the cure in Diva’s blood? So many questions but all hypothetical. I know you’ll create a satisfying end to this story and look forward to it. Thank you! |
Spartan Altego chapter 48 . 5/1 Interesting way of closing things out. In the end, Torir’s undoing was his own lust to recreate his past. His ambition betrayed him and Saya edged out a win with some flawless seduction. Nice job, girl. Too bad she was too tired out to kill Nathan. In the end, Torir’s end was pitiful as the man himself, though thankfully not entirely sympathetic as he is at the end of the day an awful person. Still, here’s hoping he won’t spend eternity paying for his sins in the afterlife - always more a fan of reincarnation. Now for the denouement. |
