DarkGamer159 chapter 10 . 1/20/2019 Another great chapter, maybe a little shorter than usual, I do wish that the fight would be a bit longer. It felt too easy, even though they have a god with them Kampê is known to imprison powerful beings like gods and titans. So it might've been a harder fight. What I really liked was the potion (and that it has side effects). Don't know if you know the witcher but in the game and books they also use potions and tactics to hunt monsters. Because all monsters are stronger or have some type of advantage on humans, people have to rely on their intellect to defeat them, which is hard for most of the population in that time because only rich people were educated. Now monsterhunters are trained in the field and know basic alchemy to mix ingredients to heal or harm. So I think that the story would have more depth to it if mercy uses more tactics, like instead of attacking a monster let it come to you so you have the upper hand. Use poisons and traps to limit the movements of the opponents. Make a smoke/dust bomb to blind the monster. And to use the terrain as an advantage. This makes the story more enjoyable and makes every fight scene look different. Not only potions is a good thing but also magical objects on both sides (so mercy's side and monsters side. Makes fights much more interesting It's always nice to see the growing relation between percy and Artemis, something I kinda missed in this chapter tbh. Because of a lack of time, here is a small idea for a side story/quest that can happen (and yes most of these will have some sort of Artemis Percy in it but characters can almost always be changedPercy and Artemis were in town to gather some supplies. Even though the hunt likes doing their own thing, they can't deny the ease of the markets. Buying vegetables at a market or farm is much easier then finding them in the wild and they don't have to eat the same thing every day. But it's not only because they need to restock that they came in town, there also was a rumor that someone was selling a death flower (just a cool name I came up for some type of flower/herb that can be used for mercy's potions and a very rare one at that. Name can be changed). Percy mentioned this to Artemis but she brushed it of saying that they didn't need a deadly flower in their hunt. After much convincing Artemis finally agreed to go find the vendor, but percy has to buy it with his own money! Ofcourese there is always a challenge when it's about a rare item. They have to find the vendor first! So they start their search, asking people if they knew about this vendor, going from vendor to vendor, even the local Inn because they mostly knew everything that happened in town. And Artemis wasn't happy that it took so long to track this one down. When they were to give up and ask one la's person, they got their awnser. It was a small timer herbelar a few hundred yards away from town, into the woods that apperently slold it. They pack up their stuff and go to ask the herbelar meanwhile the sun is starting to set behind them. After a few minutes they arrive eager to buy the death flower. After a small conversation with the vendor they give him the money and they accept the bag. Once percy opens the bag he finds a small white paper displaying a treasure map of some sorts. They ask (not so polite) the vendor what the meaning was, and he explains that he knew the location of the death flower and that it might have gotten lost in translation or miscommunication. The cemetery was not far from where they were and percy promises to Artemis that he'll owe her one if they do this real quick. Not wanting to argue more after a long day, they go to the cemetery. Here they find a crypt where the flower is supposed to be, because it only grows on corpses. To get to the flower they have to get through a lot of gouls, fiends, and a very angry ghost of the host of the crypt. After fighting a few they seem it impossible, percy thinking quick in his feet runs in the crypt and tells Artemis to keep the monsters at bay while he dellecately takes the flower and they run. After hiding for a while the only monster that is still after them is the ghost. And they have to prepare to battle it, because running is not an option anymore. Ghosts have the ability to turn invisible and go through solid objects. So they have to adept to the situation. Hope for a quick update. -DarkGamer |
